A parallel-plate capacitor connected to a battery becomes fully charged. After the capacitor from the battery is disconnected, t

he separation between the plates of the capacitor is doubled in such a way that no charge leaks off. How is the energy stored in the capacitor affected? A.) The energy stored in the capacitor quadruples its original value. B.) The energy stored in the capacitor remains constant. C.)The energy stored in the capacitor doubles its original value. D.)The energy stored in the capacitor is decreased to one-fourth of its original value. E.)The energy stored in the capacitor is decreased to one-half of its original value

Answer:

C.)The energy stored in the capacitor doubles its original value.

Explanation:

The capacitance of a capacitor is given by:

C₁ = ∈A/d...............................(1)

If the distance between the plates is doubled

C₂ = ∈A/2d.............................(2a)

From equations (1) and (2), the relationship between C₁ and C₂ is:

C₂ = C₁/2....................................(2b)

The original  Energy stored in the capacitor is given by :

E₁ = Q²/2C₁...............................(3)

On doubling the separation between the capacitance plates

E₂ = Q²/2C₂...............................(4a)

E₂ = Q²/2  *  1/C₂........................(4b)

Putting equation (2b) into (4b)

E₂ = Q²/2  *  2/C₁

E₂ = Q²/C₁.....................................(5)

Comparing equations (3) and (5)

E₂ = 2E₁

Therefore, the energy stored in the capacitor doubles its original value

Aneli [31]
You did not include the quesetion, but I can help you to understand the problem and how to find the relevant information.

1) The angle of 13° with which the shark ascends meets this:

Vertical ascending velocity = 0.85m/s * sin(13°)

Horizontal velocity = 0.85m/s * cos(13°)

2) The length swan by the shark ascending meets this

Vertical ascending length = 50 m

Horizontal length, y:

\frac{y}{50} = \frac{0.85sin(13)}{0.85cos(13)}

From that y = 50 * tan(13°)

=> y = 11.54 m.

3) Conclusions:

1) The shark run 50 m vertically upward and 11.54 m horizontally.

2) The length of the path run by the shark may be calculated using Pythagoras' theorem:

hypotenuse^2 = (50m)^2 + (11.54m)^2 = 2633.25m^2

hypotenuse = 51.35m

So, the shark swan 51.35 m to reach the surface.

Which energy source is formed when organic matter is trapped underground without exposure to air or moisture?. . A. natural gas.
nikklg [1K]

Answer:

The correct answer is option B. coal

Explanation:

Coal is made of remains of organic material including trees and other vegetation which got trapped beneath the earth’s surface or at the bottom of the swamps. After burial below the ground the organic material was acted upon by the high temperature and pressure in the absence of air to form peat. Peat after further processing for a longer period of time converted into coal
