Assume that 1 mL of water contains 20 drops. How long, in hours, will it take you to count the number of drops in 4.21 gal of wa

ter at a counting rate of 10 drops/sec? 1 gal = 3.785 L. (3 significant figures, do not use scientific notation)

Answer:

8.85 hours  (3 sf)

Explanation:

1 gal = 3.785 L

4.21 gal = x

x = 4.21 * 3.785 = 15.935 L

The relationship between mL and L is given as;

1000 mL = 1 L

x = 15.935L

x = 15.935 * 1000 = 15935 mL

The relationship between number of drops and mL is given as;

1 mL = 20 drops

15935 mL = x

x = 318 700 drops

The rate is 10 drops per sec

Rate = Number of drops / time

10 = 318700 / time

time = 31870 seconds

The question says to convert present the answer in hours so we convert time to hours by dividing the answer by 3600

Time = 31870 / 3600 = 8.85 hours  (3 sf)

A mercury mirror forms inside a test tube as a result of the thermal decomposition of mercury(ii) oxide: 2 hgo(s) → 2 hg(l) + o2
s2008m [1.1K]

Answer : The amount of heat needed to decompose 996 g of the oxide is, 416.8 kJ

Explanation :  Given,

Mass of HgO = 996  g

Molar mass of HgO = 216.59 g/mol

First we have to calculate the moles of HgO.

\text{Moles of }HgO=\frac{\text{Mass of }HgO}{\text{Molar mass of }HgO}=\frac{996g}{216.59g/mole}=4.59mole

Now we have to calculate the heat required.

The balanced chemical reaction is:

2HgO(s)\rightarrow 2Hg(l)+O_2(g)

From the given chemical reaction we conclude that,

As, 2 moles of HgO required heat for decomposition = 181.6 kJ

So, 4.59 moles of HgO required heat for decomposition = \frac{4.59}{2}\times 181.6=416.8kJ

Therefore, the amount of heat needed to decompose 996 g of the oxide is, 416.8 kJ

In an experiment, 0.42 mol of co and 0.42 mol of h2 were placed in a 1.00-l reaction vessel. at equilibrium, there were 0.29 mol
Likurg_2 [28]
To determine the Keq, we need the chemical reaction in the system. In this case it would be:

CO + 2H2 = CH3OH

The Keq is the ration of the amount of the product and the reactant. We use the ICE table for this. We do as follows:

          CO           H2             CH3OH
I         .42           .42                    0
C     -0.13      -2(0.13)            0.13
-----------------------------------------------
E =    .29           0.16               0.13

Therefore,

Keq = [CH3OH] / [CO2] [H2]^2 = 0.13 / 0.29 (0.16^2)
Keq = 17.51

When collecting temperature as a function of time for the reaction of KOH with HCL, which time is most significant
blagie [28]

Answer:

At the completion of reaction.

Explanation:

The time when the reaction take places is the most significant time for measuring temperature of the solution because on this time the temperature will decrease or increase. Some reactions releases heat energy upon completion we called them exothermic reactions whereas some absorb heat energy from the surrounding, decreases the temperature which is known as endothermic reaction so measuring temperature at the completion of reaction is the correct time.
