Suppose that the duration of a particular type of criminal trial is known to be normally distributed with a mean of 21 days and

a standard deviation of seven days. a. In words, define the random variable X. a. The duration of a criminal trial b. X ~ _N____(___21__,__7___) c. If one of the trials is randomly chosen, find the probability that it lasted at least 24 days. Sketch the graph and write the probability statement.

Answer:

0.33411

The probability that a particular criminal trial lasted atleast 24 days is 0.33411

Step-by-step explanation:

The random variable X is normally distributed with a mean of 21 and standard deviation of 7

;

X ~ N(μ = 21 ; σ = 7)

X ~ N(21, 7)

Probability that a trial lasted atleast 24 days :

P(X ≥ 24) :

The standardized score :

Z = (x - μ) / σ ; (24 - 21) / 7 ; 3 / 7 = 0.4286

Hence,

P(Z ≥ 0.4286) = 0.33411

The probability that a particular criminal trial lasted atleast 24 days is 0.33411

Jim uses ribbon to make bookmarks. Jim has 9 feet of ribbon, He uses 1/3 foot of ribbon to make each bookmark.
stellarik [79]
The answer to this is 27 ribbons bc first u have to convert 9 feet to inches which is 12*9=108in. Then since he uses 1/3 foot of ribbon to make each book mark ( u would know that 1/3 of a feet is 4 inches ) so u divided 108 by 4 which is 27 ribbons!!!! : )

Tom went on a bike to the store 3 miles away. If it took Tom 1/2 of an hour to get there and 2/3 of an hour to get back , what w
anastassius [24]

Answer:

5.14 mi/h

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the average speed, we simply find the total distance traveled by Tom and divide that by the total time the entire journey took him.

Average speed = (total distance traveled) / (total time taken)

TOTAL DISTANCE TRAVELED

He traveled 3 miles to and 3 miles fro. Hence:

3 + 3 = 6 miles

TOTAL TIME TAKEN

He spent ½ hr to go and ⅔ hr to return back. Hence:

½ + ⅔ = 7/6 hr

Therefore, the average speed is:

v = 6 / (7/6)

v = 36 / 7 = 5.14 mi/h

Tom's average speed was 5.14 mi/h.
