A player uses a hockey stick to push a puck at a constant velocity across the ice. The weight of the puck is 1.70 N. The coeffic

ient of friction is 0.0600. With what force must the player push the puck so that his force just equals the frictional force?

In the system described above we will have four forces that is acting on the puck. These are the weight, the normal force, the frictional force, and the force applied by the player. To determine the force applied by the player, we need to calculate first for the frictional force which is equal to the product of the coefficient of friction and the normal force. We do as follows:

Summation of forces in the y-direction:
W = Fn
Fn = 1.70 N

Summation of force in the x-direction
F = Fr = 0.06Fn
F = 0.06 (1.70) = 0.102 N

Answer:

r = 4.21 10⁷ m

Explanation:

Kepler's third law It is an application of Newton's second law where the forces of the gravitational force, obtaining

            T² = (\frac{4\pi }{G M_s} ) r³             (1)

in this case the period of the season is

            T₁ = 93 min (60 s / 1 min) = 5580 s

            r₁ = 410 + 6370 = 6780 km

            r₁ = 6.780 10⁶ m

for the satellite

           T₂ = 24 h (3600 s / 1h) = 86 400 s

if we substitute in equation 1

            T² = K r³

            K = T₁²/r₁³

            K = \frac{ 5580^2}{ (6.780 10^6)^2}

            K = 9.99 10⁻¹⁴ s² / m³

we can replace the satellite values

            r³ = T² / K

            r³ = 86400² / 9.99 10⁻¹⁴

            r = ∛(7.4724 10²²)

            r = 4.21 10⁷ m

this distance is from the center of the earth

Electric current in a solid metal conductor is caused by the movement of what ?
Vlad1618 [11]
Electric current in a solid metal conductor is caused by the movement of electric charge. An electric current is the flow of electric charge. An electron current, the flow of electrons, contributes to an electric current since the electron 'carries' negative electric charge. The flow of ions also contributes to an electric current in, for example, the electrolyte of an electrochemical cell.

You and your family take a trip to see your aunt who lives 100 miles away along a straight highway. The first 60 miles of the tr
Nitella [24]

Answer:

51.2 mi/h

Explanation:

Total distance, d = 100 miles

First 60 miles with speed 55 mi/h

Next 40 miles with speed 75 mi/h

Time taken for first 60 miles, t1 = 60 / 55 = 1.09 h

Time taken for 40 miles, t2 = 40 / 75 = 0.533 h

Time spent to get stuck, t3 = 20 min = 0.33 h

Total time, t = t1 + t2 + t3 = 1.09 + 0.533 + 0.33 = 1.953 h

The average speed is defined as the ratio of total distance traveled to the total time taken.

Average speed = =\frac{100}{1.953}=51.2 mi/h

Thus, the average speed of the journey is 51.2 mi/h.

Andy is waiting at the signal. As soon as the light turns green, he accelerates his car at a uniform rate of 8.00 meters/second2
Tatiana [17]
You can reason it out like this:

-- The car starts from rest, and goes 8 m/s faster every second.

-- After 30 seconds, it's going (30 x 8) = 240 m/s.

-- Its average speed during that 30 sec is  (1/2) (0 + 240) = 120 m/s

-- Distance covered in 30 sec at an average speed of 120 m/s

                                                                           =  3,600 meters .
___________________________________

The formula that has all of this in it is the formula for
distance covered when accelerating from rest:

       Distance = (1/2) · (acceleration) · (time)²

                       = (1/2) ·      (8 m/s²)     · (30 sec)²

                       =      (4 m/s²)          ·      (900 sec²)

                       =            3600 meters.

_________________________________

When you translate these numbers into units for which
we have an intuitive feeling, you find that this problem is
quite bogus, but entertaining nonetheless.

When the light turns green, Andy mashes the pedal to the metal
and covers almost 2.25 miles in 30 seconds.

How does he do that ?

By accelerating at 8 m/s².  That's about 0.82 G  !

He does zero to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, and at the end
of the 30 seconds, he's moving at 534 mph !

He doesn't need to worry about getting a speeding ticket.
Police cars and helicopters can't go that fast, and his local
police department doesn't have a jet fighter plane to chase
cars with.
