In the winter sport of bobsledding, athletes push their sled along a horizontal ice surface and then hop on the sled as it start

s to careen down the steeply sloped track. In one event, the sled reaches a top speed of 9.2 m/s before starting down the initial part of the track, which is sloped downward at an angle of 4.0 degrees.What is the sled's speed after it has traveled the first 100 m? Express your answer with the appropriate units.

Answer:

Explanation:

Using trigonometric to find the height of the slope

Sinθ = opp / hyp

Sin 4 = h / 100

h = 100×Sin4

h = 6.98 m

So, using conservation of energy

Change Potential energy = change in kinetic energy

∆ P.E = ∆K.E

mg(hf-hi) = ½m(vf²-vi²)

The, initial velocity is given as

Vi = 9.2m/s

The initial height is

hi = h = 6.98m

The final height is when the body hits the ground and at that point, the height is 0

hf = 0m

Then we need to find the final velocity cf

mg(hf-hi) = ½m(vf²-vi²)

m cancels out

g(hf-hi) = ½(vf²-vi²)

9.81 ( 6.98 - 0) = ½(vf²-9.2²)

68.43 = ½(vf²-9.2²)

68.43 × 2 = vf²-9.2²

vf² = 68.43 × 2 + 9.2²

vf² = 221.50

vf = √221.5

vf = 14.88m/s

Answer:

v = 14.87 m/s

Explanation:

Given that

Initial speed ,u= 9.2 m/s

θ = 4°

Distance d= 100 m

Lets speed after traveling 100 m is v.

From the diagram

h = d sinθ

h = 100 sin 4°

h = 6.97 m

We know that

v^2=u^2+2ah

a=g=9.81\ m/s^2

v^2=9.2^2+2\times 9.81\times 6.97

v = 14.87 m/s

Time taken to complete one oscillation for a pendulum is Time Period, T = 0.5 s
Frequency of the pendulum oscillation = 1 / Time Period => f = 1 / T = 1 / 0.5

A Labrador retriever breeder needs to determine if three male pups who were born to Sadie, his black Labrador retriever, are the
Novosadov [1.4K]

Answer: The things we know are:

Sadie, the mother, is a black labrador.

Sam, the possible father, is a yellow labrador.

Discarding things such as a scientific indagation, the breeder could look for traits in the pups.

For example, yellow is recessive against black, so if the pups are yellow, there is probable that the father is Sam, none the less, if the pups are black there is also the possibility where Sam is the father, just in this case the color genes that the pups received are the ones of the mother.

A good starting point is looking at the color, the posture, and things like that.

In the end, these things are only statistics, there is not any determination here, the only real (scientific) determinative process is a paternity test.

A graduated cylinder contains 17.5 ml of water. When a metal cube is placed onto the cylinder, its water level rises to 20.3 ml

If you are asking what the volume of the cube is it would be 20.3 - 17.5 ml so 2.8 ml.

An airplane pilot wishes to fly directly westward. According to the weather bureau, a wind of 75.0 km/hour is blowing southward.
Alex17521 [72]

Answer:

The speed of the plane relative to the ground is 300.79 km/h.

Explanation:

Given that,

Speed of wind = 75.0 km/hr

Speed of plane relative to the air = 310 km/hr

Suppose, determine the speed of the plane relative to the ground

We need to calculate the angle

Using formula of angle

\sin\theta=\dfrac{v'}{v}

Where, v'=speed of wind

v= speed of plane

Put the value into the formula

\sin\theta=\dfrac{75}{310}

\theta=\sin^{-1}(\dfrac{75}{310})

\theta=14.0^{\circ}

We need to calculate the resultant speed

Using formula of resultant speed

\cos\theta=\dfrac{v''}{v}

Put the value into the formula

\cos14=\dfrac{v''}{310}

v''=\cos14\times310

v''=300.79\ km/h

Hence, The speed of the plane relative to the ground is 300.79 km/h.

Barker is unloading 20kg bottles of water from this delivery truck when one of the bottles tips over and slides down the truck r
Degger [83]
<span>The overall force that is acting on the bottle is gravity. With the incline being 30 degrees the full force of gravity isn't acting on the bottle becuase the ramp isn't allowing the bottle to go straight down. By taking the sin of 30 degrees you find the proportion of gravity that is acting on the bottle to be 4.9 meters per second and the bottle weights 20 kg so the force acting on the bottle is 98 Newtons.</span>
