Since we are given the density and volume, then perhaps we can determine the amount in terms of the mass. All we have to do is find the volume in terms of cm³ so that it will cancel out with the cm³ in the density. The conversion is 1 ft = 30.48 cm. The solution is as follows:

V = (14 ft)(15 ft)(8 ft)(30.48 cm/1 ft)³ = 0.0593 cm³

The mass is equal to:
Mass = (0.00118g/cm³)(0.0593 cm³)
Mass = 7 grams of HCN

Umar has two copper pans, each containing 500cm3 of water. Pan A has a mass of 750g and pan B has a mass of 1.5kg. Which pan wil
Olin [163]

Answer:

heat required in pan B is more than pan A

Explanation:

Heat required to raise the temperature of the substance is given by the formula

Q = ms\Delta T

now we know that both pan contains same volume of water while the mass of pan is different

So here heat required to raise the temperature of water in Pan A is given as

Q_1 = (m_w s_w + m_ps_p)\delta T

Q_1 = (0.5(4186) + 0.750(s))\Delta T

Now similarly for other pan we have

Q_2 = (m_w s_w + m_ps_p)\delta T

Q_2 = (0.5(4186) + 1.50(s))\Delta T

So here by comparing the two equations we can say that heat required in pan B is more than pan A

Suppose 1 kg of Hydrogen is converted into Helium. a) What is the mass of the He produced? b) How much energy is released in thi
morpeh [17]

Answer:

a) m = 993 g

b) E = 6.50 × 10¹⁴ J

Explanation:

atomic mass of hydrogen = 1.00794

4 hydrogen atom will make a helium atom = 4 × 1.00794 = 4.03176

we know atomic mass of helium = 4.002602

difference in the atomic mass of helium = 4.03176-4.002602 = 0.029158

fraction of mass lost = \dfrac{0.029158}{4.03176}= 0.00723

loss of mass for 1000 g = 1000 × 0.00723 = 7.23

a) mass of helium produced = 1000-7.23 = 993 g (approx.)

b) energy released in the process

E = m c²

E = 0.00723 × (3× 10⁸)²

E = 6.50 × 10¹⁴ J

A 75-hp (shaft output) motor that has an efficiency of 91.0 percent is worn out and is to be replaced by a high- efficiency moto
daser333 [38]

Convert the shaft ouput from HP to kW

Shaft output = 75HP = 55.93kW

1st: Finding for the power consumption based on 55.93kW output

Power consumption (Old) = 55.93kW / .910 = 61.46kW

Power consumption (New) = 55.93kW / .954 = 58.63kW

2nd: Total power used in kWh:

Power Used = Power consumption * load factor * Hours:

Power (Old) = 61.46kW * .75 * 4368 = 201343 kWh

Power (New) = 58.63kW * .75 * 4368 = 192072 kWh

Energy saved = 201343 kWh - 192072 kWh = 9,271 kWh

3rd: Calculating for the price:

Price = kW-Hr * $/kWh

Price (Old) = 201343kWh * $0.08/kWh = $16107.44

Price (New) = 192072 kWh * $0.08/kWh = $15365.76

Cost saved = $16107.44 - $15365.76 =  $741.68/yr

4th: Setting up the cost equation:

Cost over time, F(t) = Motor_Cost + (Price * Number of Years, t)

Cost (Old) = 5449 + 16107.44*t

Cost (New) = 5520 + 15365.76*t

Equate the two to find for t when they cost equally:

5449 + 16107.44*t = 5520 + 15365.76*t

16107.44*t = 15365.76*t +71

16107.44*t - 15365.76*t = 71

741.68*t = 71

t = 71 / 741.68 = .095 years = 35 days

So the payback period is after 35 days.

Case 1: A DJ starts up her phonograph player. The turntable accelerates uniformly from rest, and takes t₁ = 11.9 seconds to get
olga_2 [115]

Answer:

Part a)

\omega = 8.17 rad/s

Part b)

N = 7.74 rev

Part c)

\alpha = 0.69 rad/s^2

Part d)

\alpha = 0.48 rad/s^2

Part e)

t = 9.14 s

Explanation:

Part a)

Angular speed is given as

\omega = 2\pi f

\omega = 2\pi(\frac{78}{60})

\omega = 8.17 rad/s

Part b)

Since turn table is accelerating uniformly

so we will have

\theta = \frac{\omega_f + \omega_i}{2} t

\theta = \frac{8.17 + 0}{2}(11.9)

2N\pi = 48.6

N = 7.74 rev

Part c)

angular acceleration is given as

\alpha = \frac{\omega_f - \omega_i}{t}

\alpha = \frac{8.17 - 0}{11.9}

\alpha = 0.69 rad/s^2

Part d)

When its angular speed changes to 120 rpm

then we will have

\omega_2 = 2\pi (\frac{120}{60})

\omega_2 = 12.56 rad/s

number of turns revolved is 15 times

so we have

\omega_f^2 - \omega_i^2 = 2 \alpha \theta

12.56^2 - 8.17^2 = 2\alpha (2\pi\times 15)

\alpha = 0.48 rad/s^2

Part e)

now for uniform acceleration we have

\omega_f - \omega_i = \alpha t

12.56 - 8.17 = 0.48 t

t = 9.14 s

There are devices to put in a light socket that control the current through a lightbulb, thereby increasing its lifetime. Which
Dmitrij [34]

Answer: B

Explanation:

Limiting the maximum current through the bulb. This will help in preserving or improving the bulb's lifetime and also this won't have an effect on the brightness of the bulb as brightness is affected by the average value. Although brightness is a factor of current, reducing the maximum current won't have any bearing on the average current the bulb is getting.
