Since the Carbon C is 17.39% by mass hence the Fluorine F is 82.61% by mass. Divide each mass % by the respective molar masses, that is:

C = 17.39 / 12 = 1.45

F = 82.61 / 19 = 4.35

Divide the two by the smaller number, so divide by 1.45

C = 1.45 / 1.45 = 1

F = 4.35 / 1.45 = 3

So the empirical formula is:

CF3

Calculate the percent activity of the radioactive isotope strontium-89 remaining after 5 half-lives.
maria [59]
The answer to this question would be: 3.125%

Half-life is the time needed for a radioactive molecule to decay half of its mass. In this case, the strontium-89 is already gone past 5 half lives. Then, the percentage of the mass left after 5 half-lives should be:
100%*(1/2^5)= 100%/32=3..125%

N a football game, two players tackle each other so hard that they both fly in opposite directions after they hit each other. W
evablogger [386]

Answer:

Newton's Third Law

Explanation:

Newton's Third Law stipulates that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

So when the two players are tackling they exert a force on each other.

If player 1 tackles (exerts a force) player 2,  player 2 will exert an equal and opposite reaction on player 1 as stated in Newton's Third Law.

Therefore when they tackle each other so hard they both experience reaction forces so powerful that they fly in opposite directions.

Thus this is an example of the Newton's Third Law.

Write a net ionic equation to show how piperidine, c5h11n, behaves as a base in water.
lidiya [134]
C_5H_{11}N + H2O ---\ \textgreater \  C_5H_{11}NH^{+} + OH^{-}

Nitrogen lone pair will act as a base,removing H+ from water leaving behind OH- ion.
Why ?
Because N is a better donor than O.

A 2400.-gram sample of an aqueous solution contains 0.012 gram of nh3. What is the concentration of nh3 in the solution
Kryger [21]

Answer : The concentration of NH_3 in the solution is, 2.94\times 10^{-4}M

Explanation :

First we have to calculate the volume of aqueous solution that is water.

Density of water = 1.00 g/mL

Mass of water = 2400 g

\text{Volume of water}=\frac{Mass}{Density}=\frac{2400g}{1.00g/mL}=2400mL

Now we have to calculate the concentration of ammonia solution.

Molarity : It is defined as the number of moles of solute present in one liter of volume of solution.

Formula used :

\text{Molarity}=\frac{\text{Mass of }NH_3\times 1000}{\text{Molar mass of }NH_3\times \text{Volume of solution (in mL)}}

Molar mass of NH_3 = 17 g/mole

Now put all the given values in this formula, we get:

\text{Molarity}=\frac{0.012g\times 1000}{17g/mole\times 2400mL}=3.12mole/L=2.94\times 10^{-4}M

Therefore, the concentration of NH_3 in the solution is, 2.94\times 10^{-4}M
