If food coloring is put in cups of cold and hot water. The food coloring in the cup of hot water dissolves faster than that put in the cold water.
This happens because the particle in the hot water has greater kinetic energy with which they are moving about as a result of heat that has been added to them. Because of this movement the food coloring added to the water dissolves at a fast rate. The molecules of cold water are moving at a slower rate because they are not heated. This slow movement slow down the rate of distribution of the food coloring particles that was pour inside the water.

What mass of methanol is combusted in a reaction that produces 112 L of Co2 at STP?
AlekseyPX

Answer

D 160g

Explanation:

Write the equation:

Combustion reactions use oxygen and release water and heat, so

  CH₃OH(g) + O₂(g) → CO₂(g) + H₂O(g)

Balance that:

  2CH₃OH(g) + 3O₂(g) → 2CO₂(g) + 4H₂O(g)

Find moles of carbon dioxide:

We need to know the number of moles of CO₂. This rxn is at STP, so at STP one mole of gas = 22.4 liters.

  112 L * 1 mol/22.4 L = 5 mol CO₂

Find moles of methanol:

Based on the chemical equation, for every 2 mol methanol, there are 2 mol carbon dioxide. So for every 5 mol carbon dioxide, there are 5 mol methanol!

  5 mol CO₂ = 5 mol CH₃OH

Molar mass of methanol: 12.01 + 3*1.008 + 16.00 + 1.008 = 32.04 g/mol

Moles of methanol: 5 mol * 32.04 g/mol = 160.2 g methanol

≈ 160 mol methanol

Luis is helping his parents paint a border around the walls of a room. He uses a stencil to repeat the same design on each wall
iren [92.7K]

Answer:

Polymerization.

Explanation:

Polymerization can be defined as a type of chemical reaction in which molecules that are relatively small in size chemically combine to form a huge chain of molecules.

Simply stated, polymerization refers to a chemical reaction where two or more smaller molecules react to produce larger molecules of the same network or repetitive structural units.

In polymerization, the relatively small molecules are generally referred to as monomers while the larger molecules they produce are known as polymers.

Polymerization is given by the chemical formula;

nA -----> A(n).

In this scenario, Luis uses a stencil to repeat the same design on each wall to form one long grapevine with a bunch of grapes every foot along its length.

Hence, the type of chemical reaction this best model is polymerization because it involved repeating the same design (monomers) to form a long grapevine with a bunch of grapes (polymers).

A researcher claims that an ancient scroll originated from greek scholars in about 500 bce. a measure of its carbon-14 decay rat
Naddik [55]
The amount of substance present in a certain object with a given half-life in terms of h can be expressed through the equation,

     A(t) = (A(o))(0.5)^(t/h)

where A(t) is the amount of substance after t years and A(o) is the original amount. In this item we are given that A(t)/A(o) is equal to 0.89. Substituting the known values,

     0.89 = (0.5)(t / 5730 years)

The value of t from the equation is 963.34 years.

In an experiment, 4.14 g of phosphorus combined with chlorine to produce 27.8 g of a white solid compound. what is the empirical
Umnica [9.8K]

Grams of Phosphorus = 4.14 grams
Grams of white compound = 27.8 grams
Grams of Chlorine would be = 27.8 - 4.14 = 23.66 grams
Calculating moles which would be grams / molar mass
Molar mass of P = 30.97 grams / moles; Molar mass of Cl = 35.45 grams / moles
Moles of Phosphorus = 4.14 grams / 30.97 grams / moles = 0.1337 moles
Moles of Chlorine = 23.66 grams / 35.45 grams / moles = 0.6674 moles
Calculating the ratios by dividing with the small entity
P = 0.1337 moles / 0.1337 moles = 1
Cl = 0.6674 moles / 0.1337 moles = 5
So the empirical formula would be PCl5
