The reaction between oxygen, O2, and hydrogen, H2, to produce water can be expressed as,

                    2H2 + O2 --> 2H2O

The masses of each of the reactants are calculated below.

          2H2 = 4(1.01 g) = 4.04 g
          O2 = 2(16 g) = 32 g

Given 1.22 grams of oxygen, we determine the mass of hydrogen needed.
        (1.22 g O2)(4.04 g H2 / 32 g O2) = 0.154 g of O2

Since there are 1.05 grams of O2 then, the limiting reactant is 1.22 grams of oxygen.

Driving cars lowers the pH of the oceans by _______.
Anna [14]

Correct answer: a. releasing CO2 that dissolves and forms acid in the oceans

The fuels used in automobiles release gases like carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen and sulfur. Carbon dioxide when dissolved in water forms carbonic acid. So, when the usage of cars is high, these emissions of carbon-dioxide into the atmosphere increase and this leads to the lowering of pH of the oceans as the carbon dioxide present in higher amounts in to atmosphere diffuses into the oceanic waters and form carbonic acid which makes the ocean slightly acidic.

In a voltaic cell made of a Ag strip and an Al strip immersed in 1.0 M aqueous AgNO_3 and Al(NO_3)_3 solutions, respectively, wi
Tema [17]

Answer:

When the operation of the voltaic cell, which is formed of an aluminum and silver strip takes place, the atom of aluminum loses three of its electrons and the Al3+ formed moves within the solution. The Al3+ ion gets dissolved within the solution and the electrons lost in the process moves through the wire and get acquired by the ions of silver, which then get reduced to solid Ag resulting in the mass gain of silver strip.

If 25 g of NH3, and 96 g of H2S react according to the following reaction, what is the
jeyben [28]

25 g of NH₃ will produce 47.8 g of (NH₄)₂S

Explanation:

2 NH₃ + H₂S ----> (NH₄)₂S

Molecular weight of NH₃ = 17 g/mol

Molecular weight of (NH₄)₂S = 68 g/mol

According to the balanced reaction:

2 X 17 g of NH₃ produces 68 g of (NH₄)₂S

1 g of NH₃ will produce \frac{68}{34} g of (NH₄)₂S

25g of NH₃ will produce \frac{65}{34} X 25 g of (NH₄)₂S

                                     = 47.8 g of (NH₄)₂S

Therefore, 25 g of NH₃ will produce 47.8 g of (NH₄)₂S
