A model rocket is fired vertically upward from rest. its acceleration for the first three seconds is a(t) = 72t, at which time t

he fuel is exhausted and it becomes a freely "falling" body. sixteen seconds later, the rocket's parachute opens, and the (downward) velocity slows linearly to −28 ft/s in 5 s. the rocket then "floats" to the ground at that rate. (a) determine the position function s and the velocity function v (for all times t

Velocity function = V(T)= Integral of 72t

= ∫72xdx

= 72∫xdx

Now solving for ∫xdx

Apply the power rule

∫x^ndx = xn + 1/ n + 1 with n=1:

= x^2 / 2

Plug that in the solved integrals:

= 72∫xdx

= 36 x^2

So…

72t^2/2= 36(t^2) = this is the velocity function

Position = S(T)

= Integral of 36(t^2)

= ∫36x^2dx

= 36∫x^2dx

Now solving for ∫x^2dx

Apply the power rule

∫x^ndx = xn + 1/ n + 1 with n = 2:

= x^3 / 3

Plug that in the solved integrals:

= 36∫x^2dx

= 12x^3

So the position of S(t) = 12 (t^3)

A 10kg rocket is traveling at 80 m/s when the booster engine applies a constant forward force of 60 N for 3.0 seconds. What impu
Lina20 [59]

Answer:

Impulse = 90

Resulting Velocity = 89

Explanation:

Use F * change in time = m * change in velocity.

For the first part of the question, the left side of the equation is the impulse. Plug it in.

60 * (3.0 - 0) = 90.

For the second half. we use all parts of the equation. I'm gonna use vf for the final velocity.

60 * (3.0 - 0) = 10 * (vf - 80). Simplify.

90 = 10vf - 800. Simplify again.

890 = 10vf. Divide to simplify and get the answer.

The resulting velocity is 89.

Does the rankine degree represent a larger or smaller temperature unit than the kelvin degree
zvonat [6]
The best and most correct answer among the choices provided by the question is the first choice, larger.

Rankine is Fahrenheit + 460 , while Kelvin is Celsius + 273. We all know that Fahrenheit has larger number compared to kelvin , thus rankine is much larger.

The headlights of a car emit light of wavelength 400 nm and are separated by 1.2 m. The headlights are viewed by an observer who
densk [106]

Answer:

The most correct option is;

B. 10 km

Explanation:

L = \frac{y \times d}{1.22 \times  \lambda} = \frac{1.2 \times 0.004}{1.22 \times  400 \times 10^{-9}} = 9836.066 \ km

Where:

y = Distance between the two headlights

d = Aperture of observers eye

λ = Wavelength of light

L = Distance between the observer and the headlight

Therefore, from the above solution, the distance between the observer and the headlights is 9386.066 km which is approximately 10 km.

Also we have

sinθ = y/L = 1.22 (λ/d)

= 1.22 \times \frac{400 \times 10^{-9}}{0.004}

sinθ = 1.22×10⁻⁴ rad

You are playing a game called "Will It Float?" In this game, you are given a large, square can of tuna. If you know the density
Delicious77 [7]
The only information you would need to decide if the can will float is the density of the can, which requires knowing the mass and volume. If the density of the can is less than one, the can will float. if it is greater than one, it will not float, as water's density is one.
