Jayme, who has a mass of 40 kg, is ice-skating and traveling at 4 m/s to the north towards anthony, who has a mass of 65 kg and

is traveling south at 12 m/s towards jayme. as the two approach each other, jayme suddenly grabs the arm of anthony. while holding his arm, the two continue skating together. what is the final velocity of jayme and anthony skating together

Jayme =>m1 = 40 kg, v1 = 4 m/s, North
Antony =>m2 = 65 kg, v2 = 12 m/s South
Jayme + Antony => mf =105 kg, vf =?

This is a question of conservation of momentum. Therefore;

m1v1 + m2v2 = mfvf
Substituting;
40*4 + 65*12 = 105*vf
160 + 780 = 105vf
940 = 105vf
vf = 940/105 = 8.95 m/s

The velocity of Jayme and Antony skating together will be 8.95 m/s.

A student decides to spend spring break by driving 50 miles due east, then 50 miles 30 degrees south of east, then 50 miles 30 d
stira [4]

Answer:600 miles, 12

Explanation: The movement described in the question exhibits that of a polygon. Exhibiting a constant distance and angle with only varying direction until the starting point is reached.

The sum of exterior angles of a polygon = 360 degrees.

Exterior angle of a polygon = (360 ÷ number of sides)

Therefore,

Number of sides = 360 ÷ exterior angle

Exterior angle = 30 degrees

Hence,

Number of sides = 360 ÷ 30 = 12 sides

Since distance traveled of 50 miles is the same for each displacement ;

Total displacement = distance traveled * number of sides

Total displacement = 50 * 12 = 600 miles.

A green laser pointer has a wavelength of 532 nm. what is the energy of one mol of photons generated from this device?
PSYCHO15rus [73]

We have energy E = hc/λ, where h is Planck's constant c is speed of light and λ is the wavelength.

So Energy , E=\frac{6.63*10^{-34}*3*10^8}{532*10^{-9}} =3.73*10^{-19}J

Energy of one mol = 3.73*10^{-19}*6.023*10^{23}=225 kJ/mol

Energy of one mol of photons generated from this device = 225 kJ

A wheel completes 5.6 revolutions in 8 seconds.
nevsk [136]

Answer:

86.15\pi rad/min

Explanation: Angular velocity is the number of revolutions made per unit time.

We convert the number of revolutions to radians and the time given in seconds to minutes,

Given;

1rev=2\pi rad\\therefore\\5.6rev=5.6*2\pi rad\\= 11.2\pi rad

Also,

60s = 1 min

hence

8s=\frac{8}{60}min\\=0.13min

We now divide the number of revolution in radians by the time in minutes.

\omega =\frac{11.2\pi}{0.13min}\\\omega=86.15\pi rad/min
