Since the entire length is 36 you subtract what lengths you know first 7 and 1 (36-7-1=28) since there are 7 x’s left over you just divide 28/7 and you get x = 4

If RT = 36, to find the value of x, we must first find the value of RT in terms of x and numbers. By the part-whole postulate, we know that RT = RS + ST, or 6x + 1 + x + 7, or 7x + 8. That means that RT is equal to 7x + 8. Finally, since we know that RT = 36, we know that RT = 7x + 8, we can say that 7x + 8 = 36. Solving for this gives us:

7x = 36 - 8

7x = 28

x = 4

Which equation is the inverse of y = 2x2 – 8?
natita [175]

The inverse of the function is y=\pm \sqrt{\frac{x+8}{2}}

Explanation:

To find the inverse of the equation y=2x^{2} -8, we need to interchange the variables x and y for the variables y and x.

Thus, the equation becomes

x=2y^{2} -8

Now, we shall find the value of y.

Now, adding 8 to both sides of the equation, we have,

x+8=2y^{2}

Interchanging the sides,

2y^{2} =x+8

Dividing by 2 on both sides,

y^{2} =\frac{x+8}{2}

Taking square root on both sides,

y=\pm \sqrt{\frac{x+8}{2}}

Thus, the inverse of the function is y=\pm \sqrt{\frac{x+8}{2}}

Connor has seven more nickels than dimes and twice as many quarters as dimes. If he has $6.20, how many nickels does he have?
Novosadov [1.4K]
Connor has 16 nickels. If you have 9 dimes (90 cents) and you doubled it that would give you 18 quarters ($4.50). you have 7 more nickels than dimes, so you do 7+9 which equals 16 nickels (80 cents). 90+450+80=620.

An acrobat of mass m slides down a vertical rope of height h. For the first three quarter of her descent she grips the rope with
Maksim231197 [3]

Using the work-energy theorem would be best in solving this problem. The net <span>work </span>on an object causes a change in the kinetic energy of the object, based from the work-energy theorem. For this, the formula for net work = change in kinetic energy = final kinetic energy - initial kinetic energy.

So, first sliding distance covered 3/4 with a net force 1-5/9 = 4/9 and w (w stands for weight of acrobat)

Therefore, work done = 4/9 * 3/4<span>
In the next step, the distance to be covered is 1/4.
So, let the new frictional force required be X w
Therefore, net force upward = (X - 1) w
Thus, work to be done = (X - 1) * 1/4 w---------(2)
Equating X = 1 + 4/3 = 7/3 </span>

<span>
<span>So, the frictional force that she must produce in the last quarter has to be 7/3 times her weight.</span></span>
