A projectile is thrown upward so that its distance above the ground after t seconds is given by the function h(t) = - 16t^2 + 57

6t. After how many seconds does the projectile take to reach its maximum height? Show your work for full credit.

The time required for the maximum height to be attained is calculated by differentiating the given equation and equating the derivative to zero.
                                    h(t) = -16t² + 576t
                            dh(t) / dt = 0 = (-16)(2)t + 576
The value of t from the equation is 18. Thus, after 18 seconds the projectile reaches its maximum height.

You throw a baseball straight up into the air with a speed of 24.5 m/s. How long does it take the baseball to reach its highest
galben [10]
Time=speed/acceleration
Gravitaional Acceleration=9.8 m/s^2
Speed=24.5 m/s
Time=24.5/9.8=2.5 s

A block of mass m is pushed up against a spring with spring constant k until the spring has been compressed a distance x from eq
Snowcat [4.5K]

Answer:d

Explanation:

Spring is compressed to a distance of x from its equilibrium position

Work done by block on the spring is equal to change in elastic potential energy

i.e. Work done by block W=\frac{1}{2}kx^2

therefore spring will also done an equal opposite amount of work on the block in the absence of external force

Thus work done by spring on the block W=-\frac{1}{2}kx^2

Thus option d is correct

If one of the satellites is at a distance of 20,000 km from you, what percent accuracy in the distance is required if we desire
Lesechka [4]
It is quite straightforward to convert an uncertainty to a percent uncertainty. We can divide the amount of uncertainty by the original amount and then multiply by 100%.

(2 m / 20,000,000 m) X 100% = 0.00001%

The percent uncertainty is 0.00001%.

The percent accuracy is the 100% - percent uncertainty.
The percent accuracy = 100% - 0.00001% = 99.99999%

The percent accuracy is 99.99999%.
