If 200.0 g of copper(II) sulfate react with an excess of zinc metal, what is the theoretical yield of copper? 1.253 g 50.72 g 79
Helen [10]
1)we need a balanced equation: CuSO₄ + Zn ---> ZnSO₄ + Cu

2) we need to convert the grams of CuSO₄ to moles using the molar mass.

molar mass CuSO₄= 63.5 + 32.0 + (4 x 16.0)= 160 g/mol

200.0 g CuSO_4 ( \frac{1 mol}{160 grams} )= 1.25 mol CuSO_4

3) convert moles of CuSO₄ to moles of Cu

1.25 mol CuSO_4 ( \frac{1 mol Cu}{1 mol CuSO_4} )= 1.25 mol Cu

4) convert moles of Cu to grams using it's molar mass.

molar mass Cu= 63.5 g/mol

1.25 mol (\frac{63.5 grams}{1 mol} )= 79.4 grams Cu

I did it step-by-step as the explanation but you can do all of this in one step.

200.0 g CuSO_4 ( \frac{1 mol CuSO_4}{160 g} ) ( \frac{1 mol Cu}{1 mol CuSO_4} ) ( \frac{63.5 grams}{1 mol Cu} )= 79.4 grams Cu

A medical lab is testing a new anticancer drug on cancer cells. The drug stock solution concentration is 1.5×10−9m, and 1.00 ml
Elis [28]

The concentration of the drug stock solution is 1.5*10^-9 M i.e. 1.5 * 10^-9 moles of the drug per Liter of the solution

Therefore, the number of moles present in 1 ml i.e. 1*10^-3 L of the solution would be =  1 *10^-3 L * 1.5 * 10^-9 moles/1 L = 1.5 * 10^-12 moles

1 mole of the drug will contain 6.023*10^23 drug molecules

Therefore, 1.5*10^-12 moles of the drug will correspond to :

    1.5 * 10^-12 moles * 6.023*10^23 molecules/1 mole = 9.035 * 10^11 molecules

The number of cancer cells = 2.0 * 10^5

Hence the ratio = drug molecules/cancer cells

                          = 9.035 *10^11/2.0 *10^5

                          = 4.5 * 10^6

The nutrition label on the back of a package of hotdogs (purchased within the US) indicates that one hotdog contains 100 calorie
Olenka [21]

Answer:

C. 100

Explanation:

Biochemical researches and studies have found out that an average health hotdog has a calorie of between 100 and 150 which is usually dependent on the additives.

Since the nutrition label on the back of a package of hotdogs (purchased within the US) indicates that one hotdog contains 100 calories then it truly contains such amount of calories. The standard number of calories present in a hotdog is independent of the amount eaten by individuals.

A chemical engineer calculated that 15.0 mol H2 was needed to react with excess N2 to prepare 10.0 mol NH3. But the actual yield
rjkz [21]

Answer:

The actual number of moles is 9 moles.

It is less than 15

Number of moles needed is 9 moles

Explanation:

15H2 + 10N2 ——-> 10NH3

Now from the question, we can see that the percentage yield is 60%

The percentage yield can be calculated as actual moles of H2/Theoretical moles of H2 * 100%

From the equation, we can see that the theoretical number of moles of hydrogen is 15.

Now to get the actual : 60 = x/15 * 100

x = 9

The actual number of moles is 9 moles.

It is less than 15

Number of moles needed is 9 moles
