Suppose you failed to mix the borax solution properly. How would this error be reflected in the average titre?

Chemistry

Answer  and Explanation :

borax is a week base which is used as a primary standard solution to standardize the acid solution there is a very good property of borax that is does not decompose easily as we discussed above that it is a week base does not soluble in water easily, so it is very necessary to proper mixing of borax in water. If there is in proper mixing of borax then it will effect the not standardize the solution and error will be reflected as high alkaline concentration

H A and H B are both weak acids in water, and HA is a stronger acid than HB. Which of the following statements is correct? Selec
lubasha [3.4K]

Answer:

B is a stronger base than A^-, which is a stronger base than H2O, which is a stronger base than CI^-

Explanation:

The general equation for each acid is:

HA(aq) + H2O(ac) ⇄ H3O+(aq) + A-(aq)

HB(aq) + H2O(ac) ⇄ H3O+(aq) + B-(aq)

When these acids dissociate into its ions in water they lose a proton (H+), so they are proton donors (acids) and H2O is the proton acceptor (base). This reaction produces a conjugate acid and a conjugate base.

Conjugate base is what remains of the acid molecule after it loses a proton:

HA = acid         A- Conjugate base

HB = acid         B- Conjugate base

A conjugate acid is formed when the proton is transferred to the base

H2O = base                H3O+ = Conjugate acid

The stronger acid will produce a weaker base. According to this, if HA is a stronger acid than HB, A- would be the weaker base (B- is the stronger base).

Compared with water, A- and B- are stronger bases because when they compete for a proton they have much greater affinity for H+ than water does and the equilibrium position will lie far to the left. (HA and HB are weak acids)

Finally Cl- is the weakest base because it comes after dissociation of HCl which is a strong acid

HCl(aq) + H2O → H3O+(aq) + Cl-(aq)

Note there is no double arrows, equilibrium lies far to the right. A strong acid yields a weak conjugate base it means one that has a low affinity for a proton.

6. From the values of ΔH and ΔS, predict which of the following reactions would be spontaneous at 25ºC: Reaction A: ΔH = 10.5 kJ
qwelly [4]

Answer:

Both reaction A and reaction B are non spontaneous.

Explanation:

For a spontaneous reaction, change in gibbs free energy (\Delta G) should be negative.

We know, \Delta G=\Delta H-T\Delta S, where T is temperature in Kelvin scale.

Reaction A: \Delta G=(10.5\times 10^{3})-(298\times 30)J/mol=1560J/mol

As \Delta G is positive therefore the reaction is non-spontaneous.

If at a temperature T K , the reaction is spontaneous then-

\Delta H-T\Delta S< 0

or, T> \frac{\Delta H}{\Delta S}

or, T> \frac{10.5\times 10^{3}}{30}

or, T> 350

So at a temperature greater than 350 K, the reaction is spontaneous.

Reaction B: \Delta G=(1.8\times 10^{3})-(-113\times 298)J/mol=35474J/mol

As \Delta G is positive therefore the reaction is non-spontaneous.

If at a temperature T K , the reaction is spontaneous then-

\Delta H-T\Delta S< 0

or, T> \frac{\Delta H}{\Delta S}

or, T> \frac{1.8\times 10^{3}}{-113}

or, T> -16

So at a temperature greater than -16 K, the reaction is spontaneous.

Heptane (C7H16) and octane (C8H18) are constitutents of gasoline. At 80 degree celsius, the vapor pressure of heptane is 428mmHg
ss7ja [257]
Looking at this equation P= (pa*pb)/ (pa+(pb-pa)) ya  where pa=vap press a and ya= vap composition a and P= total pressure,it relates vapor pressure mixture to vapor composition. This is derived using the combination of Dalton's and Raoult's laws.

OlgaM077 [116]

Answer:

737.52 mL de agua

Explanation:

M = moles / V

V ste = Vsol - Vsto

Primero calcularemos los moles de soluto:

moles = M * V

moles = 2 * 0.800 = 1.6 moles

m = moles * PM

m = 1.6 * 169.87 = 271.792 g

d = m/V

V = m/d

V = 271.792 / 4.35

V = 62.48 mL

Finalmente, la cantidad de agua necesaria es:

V agua = 800 - 62.48

V agua = 737.52 mL
