A stationary police car emits a sound of frequency 1200 Hz that bounces off a car on the highway and returns with a frequency of

1250 Hz. The police car is right next to the highway, so the moving car is traveling directly toward or away from it. (a) How fast was the moving car going? Was it moving toward or away from the police car? (b) What frequency would the police car have received if it had been traveling toward the other car at 20.0 m/s?

Answer:

(a): The moving car was going at Vo= 14.29 m/s moving toward the police car.

(b) If the police car had been traveling toward the other car at 20 m/s would receive a frequency of f''= 1327.39 Hz.

Explanation:

V= 343 m/s

f= 1200 Hz

f'= 1250 Hz

Vo= ?

Vf= 0

f'= f* {(V - (Vo) / V}

clearing Vo:

Vo= 14.29 m/s  (a)

f''= f* {(V - (Vo) / V - 20 m/s}

f''= 1327.39 m/s (b)

kobusy [5.1K]

Answer:

σ₁ = 3.167 * 10^{-6} C/m²

σ₂ = 7.6 * 10 ^{-6}  C/m²

Explanation:

The given data :-

i) The radius of smaller sphere ( r ) = 5 cm.

ii) The radius of larger sphere ( R ) = 12 cm.

iii) The electric field at of larger sphere  ( E₁ ) = 358 kV/m. = 358 * 1000 v/m

E_{1} = (\frac{1}{4\pi\epsilon  }) (\frac{Q_{1} }{R^{2} } )

358000 = 9 * 10^{9 } *\frac{Q_{1} }{0.12^{2} }

Q₁ = 572.8 * 10^{-9} C

Since the field inside a conductor is zero, therefore electric potential ( V ) is constant.

V = constant

∴\frac{Q_{1} }{R} = \frac{Q_{2} }{r}

Q_{2}  = \frac{r}{R} *Q_{1}

Q_{2} = \frac{5}{12} *572.8*10^{-9}   = 238.666 *10^{-9} C

Surface charge density ( σ₁ ) for large sphere.

Area ( A₁ )  = 4 * π * R²  = 4 * 3.14 * 0.12 = 0.180864 m².

σ₁  = \frac{Q_{1} }{A_{1} } = \frac{572.8 *10^{-9} }{0.180864} = 3.167 * 10^{-6}  C/m².

Surface charge density ( σ₂ ) for smaller sphere.

Area ( A₂ )  = 4 * π * r²  = 4 * 3.14 * 0.05²  =0.0314 m².

σ₂ =\frac{Q_{2} }{A_{2} } = \frac{238.66 *10^{-9} }{0.0314} = 7.6 * 10 ^{-6} C/m²

The speed v of a sound wave traveling in a medium that has bulk modulus b and mass density ρ (mass divided by the volume) is v=b
PilotLPTM [1.2K]

As it is given that Bulk modulus  and density related to velocity of sound

v = \sqrt{\frac{B}{\rho}}

by rearranging the equation we can say

B = \rho * v^2

now we need to find the SI unit of Bulk modulus here

we can find it by plug in the units of density and speed here

B = \frac{kg}{m^3} * (\frac{m}{s})^2

so SI unit will be

B = \frac{kg}{m* s^2}

SO above is the SI unit of bulk Modulus

Answer:

Obviously Lengthen...   T = 2\pi \sqrt{L/g}   or   g = 4\pi ^{2} L/g

Explanation:

As we can observe from the equation, time period of a simple pendulum depends upon the length directly. When the gravitational acceleration increases the time period of the pendulum decreases and vice versa. So, by increasing the length, the time period can be adjusted...
