Answer:

Keiko should mix 20 mL 1% solution and 80 mL 6% solution for to make 100 mL 5% solution

Explanation:

There are 2 unknown values X= mL 6% solution and Y=1% solution. So, we need 2 equations:

1. Equation acid concentration. X mL 6% + Y mL 1% = 100 mL 5%

2. Equation solvent concentration X mL 94% + Y mL 99% = 100 mL 95%

When clearing X and Y :

(X mL 6%    +   Y mL 1%      =    100 mL 5%) (-15,7)

X mL 94%  +   Y mL 99%   =   100 mL 95%

_______________________________

 -                      Y  0.83       =   16.5

                        Y                =   19.9 mL 1% solution

Replace Y in anyone equation and X = 80 mL 6% solution

I hope to see been helpful

<h3>Further explanation </h3>

The concentration of a substance can be expressed in several quantities such as moles, percent (%) weight / volume,), molarity, molality, parts per million (ppm) or mole fraction. Concentration shows the amount of solute in a unit of the amount of solvent.

Molarity (M)

Molarity shows the number of moles of solute in every 1 liter of solution.

\large{\boxed {\bold {M ~ = ~ \frac {n} {V}}}

Where

M = Molarity

n = Number of moles of solute

V = volume of the solution

For molarity a mixture can be formulated  :

M_{mix}=\frac{total\:mole}{total\:volume}

M_{mix}=\frac{M1.V1+M2.V2}{V1+V2}

Keiko needs 100 mL of a 5% acid solution

The available solutions are 1% and 6%

We can make a mathematical equation from the two statements above

  • 1. V1 + V2 = 100

The total volume of the 1% and 6% solutions is 100 ml

  • 2. The mixture concentration is 5%

5% = 1% .V1 + 6% .V2 /( V1 + V2 )

5% = 1% .V1 + 6% .V2 / 100

5 = 1% .V1 + 6% .V2 or

500 = V1 + 6V2

Equations 1 and 2 we do elimination and substitution

500 = V1 + 6V2

100  = V1 + V2

----------------------- -

400 =  5V2

V2 = 80 ml

V1 = 20 ml

A student is given the question: "what is the mass of a gold bar that is 7.379 × 10–4 m3 in volume? the density of gold is 19.3
IRINA_888 [86]

<em>The mass of a gold bar  = 1.424 x 10⁴ gram</em>

<em></em>

<h3><em>Further Explanation</em></h3>

Density is a quantity derived from the mass and volume

density is the ratio of mass per unit volume

With the same mass, the volume of objects that have a high density will be smaller than type

The unit of density can be expressed in g / cm3 or kg / m3

Density formula:

\large{\boxed{{\bold{\rho~=~\frac{m}{V}}}}

ρ = density

m = mass

v = volume

A common example is the water density of 1 gr / cm3

The mass itself is often equated with weight, even though it is different. Mass is the amount of matter in the matter while weight is related to the gravitational force

<em>Known variable</em>

volume gold bar 7.379 × 10⁻⁴ m³

a density of 19.3 g/cm³

<em>Asked</em>

the mass of a gold bar

<em>Answer</em>

volume is known to be 7.379 × 10⁻⁴ m³, then we change it first to units of cm³ adjusting to units of density

7.379 × 10⁻⁴ m³ = 7.379 × 10² cm³

then:

mass = volume x density

mass = 7.379 × 10² cm³ x 19.3 g/cm³

mass = 1.424 x 10⁴ gram

Element X reacts with copper to form the compounds CuX and CuX2. In which group on the Periodic Table is element X found?
lapo4ka [179]
Cu has two possible charges: plus 1 and plus 2. Thus, when copper is combined with an anion (negatively charged ion), the anion carries a subscript of one or two. This is shown in the given, Moreover, the given shows copper carries a subscript only of one. This means the anion has an original charge of negative one. These elements belong to the halogen family (Group 17).

How many grams o an ointment base must be added to 45 g o clobetasol (T EMOVAT E) ointment, 0.05% w/w, to change its strength to
saw5 [17]

Answer:

Drug calculation

If we have 45g of clobetasol  = 0.05%w/w

Then what mass in g of clobetasol is in 0.03%w/w = 45 x 0.03/0.05 =27g

It means that 27g of clobetasol must be added to change the drug strength to 0.03% w/w

In 200 g of a concentrated solution of 70.4 wt% nitric acid (r = 1.41 g/mL, FW(HNO3) = 63.01 g/mol), how many grams of water are
mars1129 [50]

Answer:

59.2 grams

Explanation:

We are given that 70.4% of the weight of the total 200 g of the concentration is made up of nitric acid, the remaining information is not required to solve the problem. Since water and nitric acid are the only components of the solution, the total weight of water is given by:

W = 200*(1-0.704)\\W=59.2\ g

There are 59.2 grams of water in this solution.
