A 1400 kg aircraft going 40 m/s collides with a 1500 kg aircraft that is parked and they stick together after the collision and

are going 19.3 m/s after the collision. If they skid for 8.2 seconds before stopping, how far did they skid?

Explanation:

It is given that,

Mass of the aircraft 1, m₁ = 1400 kg

Mass of aircraft 2, m₂ = 1500 kg

Initially, the aircraft 2 is at rest, u₂ = 0

Initial speed of the aircraft 1, u₁ = 40 m/s

After the collision, the total speed of the system, V = 19.3 m/s

Time, t = 8.2 s

Since, two objects stick together it is a case of inelastic collision. The acceleration of the system is given by :

a=\dfrac{V}{t}

a=\dfrac{19.3\ m/s}{8.2\ s}

a=2.35\ m/s^2

Distance covered by the system before stopping is given by :

x=\dfrac{1}{2}\times a\times t^2

x=\dfrac{1}{2}\times 2.35\times (8.2)^2

x = 79.007 meters

Hence, this is the required solution.

If Emily throws the ball at an angle of 30∘ below the horizontal with a speed of 14m/s, how far from the base of the dorm should
liubo4ka [24]

Emily throws the ball at 30 degree below the horizontal

so here the speed is 14 m/s and hence we will find its horizontal and vertical components

v_x = 14 cos30 = 12.12 m/s

v_y = 14 sin30 = 7 m/s

vertical distance between them

\delta y = 4 m

now we will use kinematics in order to find the time taken by the ball to reach at Allison

\delat y = v_y *t + \frac{1}{2} at^2

here acceleration is due to gravity

a = 9.8 m/s^2

now we will have

4 = 7 * t + \frac{1}{2}*9.8 * t^2

now solving above quadratic equation we have

t = 0.44 s

now in order to find the horizontal distance where ball will fall is given as

d = v_x * t

here it shows that horizontal motion is uniform motion and it is not accelerated so we can use distance = speed * time

d = 12.12 * 0.44 = 5.33 m

so the distance at which Allison is standing to catch the ball will be 5.33 m

When you skid to a stop on your bike, you can significantly heat the small patch of tire that rubs against the road surface. Sup
Wittaler [7]

Answer:

W_f = 148.17J

Explanation:

During the exchange of applied force, thermal energy is generated by the friction that exists between the ground and the tire.

Said force according to the statement is the reaction of half the force on the rear tire. In this way the normal force acted is,

N=\frac{mg}{2} = \frac{90*9.8}{2} = 441N

The work done is given by the friction force and the distance traveled,

W_f = fd = \mu_k Nd

Where \mu_k [/ tex] is the coefficient of kinetic frictionN is the normal force previously found d is the distance traveled,Replacing,[tex]W_f = (0.80)(441)(0.42)

The thermal energy released through the work done is,

W_f = 148.17J

A semi is traveling down the highway at a velocity of v = 26 m/s. The driver observes a wreck ahead, locks his brakes, and begin
Dovator [93]

Answer:

fcosθ + Fbcosθ  =Wtanθ

Explanation:

Consider the diagram shown in attachment

fx= fcosθ (fx: component of friction force in x-direction ; f: frictional force)

Fbx= Fbcosθ ( Fbx: component of braking force in x-direction ; Fb: braking force)

Wx= Wtanθ (Wx: component of weight in x-direction ; W: Weight of semi)

sum of x-direction forces = 0

fx+ Fbx=Wx

fcosθ + Fbcosθ  =Wtanθ

Calculate the amount of hcn that gives the lethal dose in a small laboratory room measuring 14 × 15 × 8.0ft. the density of air
vova2212 [387]
Since we are given the density and volume, then perhaps we can determine the amount in terms of the mass. All we have to do is find the volume in terms of cm³ so that it will cancel out with the cm³ in the density. The conversion is 1 ft = 30.48 cm. The solution is as follows:

V = (14 ft)(15 ft)(8 ft)(30.48 cm/1 ft)³ = 0.0593 cm³

The mass is equal to:
Mass = (0.00118g/cm³)(0.0593 cm³)
Mass = 7 grams of HCN
