The Earth is 1.5 × 1011 m from the Sun and takes a year to make one complete orbit. It rotates on its own axis once per day. It

can be treated approximately as a uniform-density sphere of mass 6 × 1024 kg and radius 6.4 × 106 m (actually, its center has higher density than the rest of the planet, and the Earth bulges out a bit at the equator). Using this crude approximation, calculate the following: (a) What is vCM ? (b) What is Ktrans ? (c) What is ω, the angular speed of rotation around its own axis? (d) What is Krot? (e) What is Ktot?

Answer:

Part a)

v_{cm} = 2.98 \times 10^4 m/s

Part b)

K_{trans} = 2.68 \times 10^{33} J

Part c)

\omega = 7.27 \times 10^{-5} rad/s

Part d)

KE_{rot} = 2.6 \times 10^{29} J

Part e)

KE_{tot} = 2.68 \times 10^{33} J

Explanation:

Time period of Earth about Sun is 1 Year

so it is

T = 1 year = 3.15 \times 10^7 s

now we know that angular speed of the Earth about Sun is given as

\omega = \frac{2\pi}{T}

\omega = \frac{2\pi}{3.15 \times 10^7}

now speed of center of Earth is given as

v_{cm} = r\omega

r = 1.5 \times 10^{11} m

v_{cm} = (1.5 \times 10^{11})(\frac{2\pi}{3.15 \times 10^7})

v_{cm} = 2.98 \times 10^4 m/s

Part b)

now transnational kinetic energy of center of Earth is given as

K_{trans} = \frac{1}{2}mv^2

K_{trans} = \frac{1}{2}(6 \times 10^{24})(2.98 \times 10^4)^2

K_{trans} = 2.68 \times 10^{33} J

Part c)

Angular speed of Earth about its own axis is given as

\omega = \frac{2\pi}{T}

\omega = \frac{2\pi}{24 \times 3600}

\omega = 7.27 \times 10^{-5} rad/s

Part d)

Now moment of inertia of Earth about its own axis

I = \frac{2}{5}mR^2

I = \frac{2}{5}(6 \times 10^{24})(6.4 \times 10^6)^2

I = 9.83 \times 10^{37} kg m^2

now rotational energy is given as

KE_{rot} = \frac{1}{2}I\omega^2

KE_{rot} = \frac{1}{2}(9.83 \times 10^{37})(7.27 \times 10^{-5})^2

KE_{rot} = 2.6 \times 10^{29} J

Part e)

Now total kinetic energy is given as

KE_{tot} = KE_{trans} + KE_{rot}

KE_{tot} = 2.68 \times 10^{33} + 2.6 \times 10^{29}

KE_{tot} = 2.68 \times 10^{33} J

TEA [102]
I think the correct answer would be A. If you are waiting to turn left into a small parking lot and a car is approaching from the opposite direction has a turn signal on, then you should wait until the other car starts its turn before making your turn. According to the general law on making a left turn, left turns should yield to the oncoming traffic. The vehicle that arrives in the intersection first would have the right of way to turn left. However, when there are two vehicles arrives at the intersection almost at the same time, then the one on the right would have the right of way.

Two small aluminum spheres, each of mass 0.0250 kilograms, areseparated by 80.0 centimeters.
sineoko [7]

Answer:

Total number of electrons

N = 7.25 \times 10^{24}

electrons removed from each sphere

N = 5.27 \times 10^{15}

Fraction of electrons transferred is given as

f = 7.27 \times 10^{-10}

Explanation:

As we know that moles is defined as

n =\frac{mass}{molar mass}

n = \frac{0.0250}{0.026982}

n = 0.93

so number of atoms of Al in each sphere is given as

N = 0.93(6.02 \times 10^{23})

N = 5.58 \times 10^{23}

Now number of electrons in each atom is given as

atomic number = number of electrons in each atom = 13

total number of electrons in each sphere is

N = 13 \times (5.58 \times 10^{23})

N = 7.25 \times 10^{24}

Also we know that force of attraction between them is given as

F= \frac{kq_1q_2}{r^2}

1.00 \times 10^4 = \frac{(9\times 10^9)q^2}{0.80^2}

q = 8.4 \times 10^{-4} C

now we have

q = Ne

8.4 \times 10^{-4} = N(1.6 \times 10^{-19}

N = \frac{(8.4 \times 10^{-4})}{1.6 \times 10^{-19}}

N = 5.27 \times 10^{15}

Fraction of electrons transferred is given as

f = \frac{5.27 \times 10^{15}}{7.25 \times 10^{24}}

f = 7.27 \times 10^{-10}

If you have to apply 40n of force on a crowbar to lift a rock that weights 400n, what is the actual mechanical advantage of the
Mrrafil [7]
The mechanical advantage is defined as the ratio between the force produced by a machine and the force applied in input:
MA= \frac{F_{out}}{F_{in}}
For the crowbar of the problem, the force applied in input is 40 N, while the force produced in output is equal to the weight of the rock that is lifted, so 400 N. Therefore, the mechanical advantage is
MA= \frac{400 N}{40 N}=10

Answer:

8 cm

Ladder is safer than to walk on it

Explanation:

Streched = Final length - initial length

= 66 - 58

= 8 cm

When your are walking along frozen ice pond your weight is not distributed .It's acting on directly on the ice pond because of contact Area is too small between pond and you. There for According to pressure equation ,

P = F/A

When area is less pressure is less.

If use ladder instead of going by foot. Contact area will be high between pond and ladder. There for pressure is reduced .
