Suppose that all the mass in your body were suddenly converted into energy according to the formula E=mc2. How much energy would

Answer:

Energy released from 1 megaton hydrogen bomb will we equal to the 1.43\times 10^7 times of of energy obtained by converting 70.0 kg of person into energy.

Explanation:

1. Mass of a body = 70 kg

Energy obtained by converting 70 kilograms into energy = E

E=mc^2

E=70kg\times (3\times 10^8 m/s)^2=6.3\times 10^{18} Joules

2. Mass of the hydrogen bomb , m'= 1 megaton = 1,000,000,000  kg

Energy obtained by 1 megaton hydrogen bomb = E'

E'=m'\times c^2

=1000000000  kg\times (3\times 10^8)^2=9\times 10^{25} J

Dividing E' by E

\frac{E'}{E}=\frac{9\times 10^{25} J}{6.3\times 10^{18} Joules}=1.43\times 10^7

E'=E\times 1.43\times 10^7

Energy released from 1 megaton hydrogen bomb will we equal to the 1.43\times 10^7 times of of energy obtained by converting 70.0 kg of person into energy.

A rock of mass m is thrown horizontally off a building from a height h. the speed of the rock as it leaves the thrower's hand at
Stells [14]
The correct answer is <span>3) K_f =  \frac{1}{2}mv_0^2 + mgh.

In fact, the total energy of the rock when it <span>leaves the thrower's hand is the sum of the gravitational potential energy U and of the initial kinetic energy K:
</span>E=U_i+K_i=mgh +  \frac{1}{2}mv_0^2
<span>As the rock falls down, its height h from the ground decreases, eventually reaching zero just before hitting the ground. This means that U, the potential energy just before hitting the ground, is zero, and the total final energy is just kinetic energy:
</span>E=K_f<span>
But for the law of conservation of energy, the total final energy must be equal to the tinitial energy, so E is always the same. Therefore, the final kinetic energy must be

A steel tank of weight 600 lb is to be accelerated straight upward at a rate of 1.5 ft/sec2. Knowing the magnitude of the force
VikaD [51]

Answer:

a) the values of the angle α is 45.5°

b) the required magnitude of the vertical force, F is 41 lb

Explanation:

Applying the free equilibrium equation along x-direction

from the diagram

we say

∑Fₓ = 0

Pcosα - 425cos30° = 0

525cosα - 368.06 = 0

cosα = 368.06/525

cosα = 0.701

α = cos⁻¹ (0.701)

α = 45.5°

Also Applying the force equation of motion along y-direction

∑Fₓ = ma

Psinα + F + 425sin30° - 600 = (600/32.2)(1.5)

525sin45.5° + F + 212.5 - 600 = 27.95

374.46 + F + 212.5 - 600 = 27.95

F - 13.04 = 27.95

F = 27.95 + 13.04

F = 40.99 ≈ 41 lb

A 4kg block is sliding on a horizontal frictionless floor at a speed of 2.5ms and runs into a horizontal spring. The spring has
alexgriva [62]

Answer:

Explanation:

Given

mas of block m=4\ kg

speed of block v=2.5\ m/s

spring constant k=30\ N-m

As the mass collides with the spring its kinetic energy is converted to the Elastic Potential energy of the spring

\frac{1}{2}mv^2=\frac{1}{2}kx^2

x=v\sqrt{\frac{m}{k}}

x=2.5\times \sqrt{\frac{4}{30}}

x=0.912\ m
