Answer : There are 16 number of bonding electrons and 8 number of non-bonding electrons or lone pairs of electrons.

Explanation :

Lewis-dot structure : It shows the bonding between the atoms of a molecule and it also shows the unpaired electrons present in the molecule.

In the Lewis-dot structure the valance electrons are shown by 'dot'.

The given molecule is, HCOOCH_3

As we know that carbon has '4' valence electrons, hydrogen has '1' valence electron and oxygen has '6' valence electrons.

Therefore, the total number of valence electrons in HCOOCH_3 = 2(4) + 4(1) + 2(6) = 24

According to Lewis-dot structure, there are 16 number of bonding electrons and 8 number of non-bonding electrons or lone pairs of electrons.

Is utensils a substance homogeneous mixture or heterogeneous mixture
Phoenix [80]

A pure substance or a homogeneous mixture consists of a single phase. A heterogeneous mixture consists of two or more phases. When oil and water are combined, they do not mix evenly, but instead form two separate layers.

The gas in a sealed container has an absolute pressure of 125.4 kilopascals. If the air around the container is at a pressure of
AlexFokin [52]

Answer: C. 25.6 kPa

Explanation:

The Gauge pressure is defined as the amount of pressure in a fluid that exceeds the amount of pressure in the atmosphere.

As such, the formula will be,

PG = PT – PA

Where,

PG is Gauge Pressure

PT is Absolute Pressure

PA is Atmospheric Pressure

Inputted in the formula,

PG = 125.4 - 99.8

PG = 25.6 kPa

The gauge pressure inside the container is 25.6kPa which is option C.

Determine the number of moles in 4.21 x 10^23 molecules of CaCl2
Paha777 [63]

Answer:

0.699 mole CaCl₂

Explanation:

To get the number of moles we use the Avogadro's number.

Avogadro's number is 6.022 x 10^23.

But, 1 mole of a compound contains  6.022 x 10^23 molecules

In this case;

we are given 4.21 × 10^23 molecules of CaCl₂

Therefore, to get the number of moles

Moles = Number of molecules ÷ Avogadro's constant

          = 4.21 × 10^23 molecules ÷  6.022 x 10^23 molecules/mole

          = 0.699 mole CaCl₂

Hence, the number of moles is 0.699 mole of CaCl₂
