Finally, sometimes the desired value does not directly match the units given but is derived from the calculation required. For e

xample, a sheet of metal that has a volume of 45.5 cm3 has a width of 14.8 cm and has a length 15.9 cm. What is the thickness (that is, the height) of the metal sheet in millimeters?

Answer: The thickness of metal sheet is 1.93 mm

Explanation:

The metals sheet is in the form of cuboid.

To calculate the width of the metal sheet for the given volume, we use the equation to calculate the volume of cuboid, which is:

V=lbh

where,

V = volume of metal sheet = 45.5cm^3

l = length of metal sheet = 15.9 cm

b = width of metal sheet = 14.8 cm

h = height of metal sheet = ? cm

Putting values in above equation, we get:

45.5cm^3=15.9\times 14.8\times h\\\\h=\frac{45.5}{15.9\times 14.8}=0.193cm

Converting this thickness into millimeters, we use the conversion factor:

1 cm = 10 mm

So, 0.193cm\times \frac{10mm}{1cm}=1.93mm

Hence, the thickness of metal sheet is 1.93 mm

The interior of a refrigerator has a volume of 0.600 m3. the temperature inside the refrigerator in 282 k, and the pressure is 1
Dafna11 [192]
In this instance we can use the ideal gas law equation to find the number of moles of gas inside the refrigerator
PV = nRT
where
P - pressure - 101 000 Pa
V - volume - 0.600 m³
n - number of moles
R - universal gas constant - 8.314 J/mol.K
T - temperature - 282 K
substituting these values in the equation
101 000 Pa x 0.600 m³ = n x 8.314 J/mol.K x 282 K
n = 25.8 mol
there are 25.8 mol of the gas
to find the mass of gas
mass of gas = number of moles x molar mass of gas
mass = 25.8 mol x 29 g/mol = 748.2 g
mass of gas present is 748.2 g

Jesse travels 3.0 meters east and then turns and travels 4.0 meters north. The trip requires 35 seconds. What is his velocity? 0
melisa1 [442]
Displacement = √(3² + 4²)
Displacement = 5 meters north east

Velocity = displacement / time
Velocity = 5 / 35
Velocity = 0.14 m/s northeast
