Answer:

The stoichiometric coefficient for aluminum is 2

Explanation:

Step 1: Data given

Aluminum metal = Al(s)

aqueous cobalt(II) nitrate = Co(NO3)2(aq)

aluminum nitrate = Al(NO3)3

cobalt metal = Co(s)

Step 2: The unbalanced equation

Al(s) + Co(NO3)2(aq) → Al(NO3)3(aq) + Co(s)

Step 3: Balancing the equation

On the left side we have 2x NO3 (in Co(NO3)2), on the right side we have 3x NO3 (in Al(NO3)3). To balance the amount of NO3 we have to multiply Co(NO3)2 on the left side by 3 and Al(NO3)3 on the right side by 2

Al(s) + 3Co(NO3)2(aq) → 2Al(NO3)3(aq) + Co(s)

On the left side we have 3x Co (in 3Co(NO3)2 ) and on the right we have 1x Co . To balance the amount of Co we have to multiply Co on the right by 3

Al(s) + 3Co(NO3)2(aq) → 2Al(NO3)3(aq) + 3Co(s)

On the right side we have 1x Al and on the right we have 2x Al, in (2Al(NO3)3 . To balance the amount of Al we have to multiply Al on the left by 2. Now the equation is balanced.

2Al(s) + 3Co(No3)2(aq) → 2Al(No3)3(aq) + 3Co(s)

The stoichiometric coefficient for aluminum is 2

Physical properties of glass bottle
Paul [167]
Glass is a hard substance that consists of sand, soda ash and limestone. When these substances are heated together, their molecules bond to form the substance we know as glass. We use glass for many purposes, and glass bottles have become a popular method of storage, as well as being used in chemical experiments.

What is the final pressure (expressed in atm) of a 3.05 l system initially at 724 mm hg and 298 k, that is compressed to a final
krok68 [10]

Answer:

P2 = 778.05 mm Hg = 1.02 atm

Explanation:

We are to find the final pressure (expressed in atm) of a 3.05 liter system initially at 724 mm hg and 298 K which is compressed to a final volume of 2.60 liter at 273 K.

For this, we would use the equation:

\frac{P_1V_1}{T_1} =\frac{P_2V_2}{T_2}

where P1 = 724 mm hg

V1 = 3.05 L

T1 = 298 K

P2 = ?

V2 = 2.6 L

T2 = 173 K

Substituting the given values in the equation to get:

\frac{(724)(3.05)}{298} =\frac{P_2(2.6)}{173}

P2 = 778.05 mm Hg = 1.02 atm

What is the oxidation state of selenium in SeO3?
ra1l [238]

Answer: The oxidation state of selenium in SeO3 is +6

Explanation:

SeO3 is the chemical formula for selenium trioxide.

- The oxidation state of SeO3 = 0 (since it is stable and with no charge)

- the oxidation number of oxygen (O) IN SeO3 is -2

- the oxidation state of selenium in SeO3 = Z (let unknown value be Z)

Hence, SeO3 = 0

Z + (-2 x 3) = 0

Z + (-6) = 0

Z - 6 = 0

Z = 0 + 6

Z = +6

Thus, the oxidation state of selenium in SeO3 is +6
