nd had to go back to get three extra boxes of tile. However, he only used two tiles from the last box to finish the job.
Felicia also retiled her kitchen. She bought five boxes of tile, and each box contained the same number of tiles as each of Bruce’s boxes. She also ran out of tile. She had to go back to the store and get five more tiles to finish the job.

In this activity, you’ll determine whether Bruce and Felicia used the same number of tiles and whose tiles cover the most area per tile.
Is it possible for Bruce and Felicia to have used the same number of tiles? Use complete sentences to explain your reasoning.

Answer:

Bruce's tile covers up more space.

Step-by-step explanation:

So as we know, Bruce covers up around 1/4 of square feet and to find felicia's function we have to used the data we already have. For example, x=6 tiles, y=1 sq ft and x=12 tiles, y=2 sq ft, then we set y=kx which then we can find the value of k, 1=6k, k=1/6 then y=1/6. We then test the function with x=12 and x=18, y=1/6 12=2 and y=1/6 18=3. When the function is complete, we see that Bruce's tiles cover up more space because 1/4>1/6.

If →u and →v are the vectors below, find the vector →w whose tail is at the point halfway from the tip of →v to the tip of →v−→u
S_A_V [24]
Û = (-1, -1, -1)
^v = (2, 3, -5)
^v - û = (2 + 1, 3 + 1, -5 + 1) = (3, 4, -4)
Half way from ^v to ^(v - u) = ((3 - 2)/2, (4 - 3)/2, (-4 + 5)/2) = (1/2, 1/2, 1/2)
Halfway from û to ^v = ((2 + 1)/2, (3 + 1)/2, (-5 + 1)/2) = (3/2, 2, -2)

The required vector ^w = ((3/2 - 1/2), (2 - 1/2), (-2 - 1/2)) = (1, 1/2, -5/2)

An ice cream store has two new flavors: Fantasy and Ecstasy. Each barrel of Fantasy requires 4
Y_Kistochka [10]

Answer:

  • Fantasy: 3 barrels
  • Ecstasy: 1 barrel

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Given</u>

Fantasy uses 4 lb of nuts, 3 lb of chocolate, for a profit of $50

Ecstasy uses 4 lb of nuts, 1 lb of chocolate, for a profit of $40

In stock are 16 lb of nuts, 10 lb of chocolate

<u>Find</u>

amount of each to maximize profit

<u>Solution</u>

Let x and y represent barrels of Fantasy and Ecstasy, respectively. Then the limitations on production are ...

  4x +4y ≤ 16 . . . lb of nuts

  3x +y ≤ 10 . . . . lb of chocolate

We want to maximize

  50x +40y

The graph shows the feasible region. Its vertices are ...

  (0, 4), (3, 1), (3.33, 0)

Profit is maximized at $190 when production is 3 barrels of Fantasy and 1 barrel of Ecstasy.
