Base on my research the radioactive isotope X-133 has a half-life of 5 days. So base on the given it decreases by a factor of 1024, it represents 10 halvings. To get how long will it take for the 133 54xe to decay, just multiply 5 days with 10 halvings. The answer is 50 days for the 133 54xe to decay.

This is an incomplete question, here is a complete question.

The radioactive isotope ^{133}_{54}Xe is used in pulmonary respiratory studies to image the blood flow and the air reaching the lungs. The half-life of this isotope is 5 days .

How long a time t will it take for the ^{133}_{54}Xe to decay so that eventually its activity decreases by a factor of 1024?

Express your answer numerically in days.

Answer : The time passed in days is, 50 days

Explanation :

Half-life = 5 days

First we have to calculate the rate constant, we use the formula :

k=\frac{0.693}{t_{1/2}}

k=\frac{0.693}{5\text{ days}}

k=0.1386\text{ days}^{-1}

Now we have to calculate the time passed.

Expression for rate law for first order kinetics is given by:

t=\frac{2.303}{k}\log\frac{a}{a-x}

where,

k = rate constant  = 0.1386\text{ years}^{-1}

t = time passed by the sample  = ?

a = initial amount of the reactant  = 1

a - x = amount left after decay process = \frac{1}{1024}

Now put all the given values in above equation, we get

t=\frac{2.303}{0.1386}\log\frac{1}{(\frac{1}{1024})}

t=50.02\text{ days}\approx 50\text{ days}

Therefore, the time passed in days is, 50 days

At 1 atm pressure, the heat of sublimation of gallium is 277 kj/mol and the heat of vaporization is 271 kj/mol. to the correct n
Andreyy89
Below are the choices that can be found elsewhere:

 a. 268 kJ
<span>b. 271 kJ </span>
<span>c. 9 kJ </span>
<span>d. 6 kJ
</span>
So the key thing to realize here is what the information given to you actually means. Sublimation is going from a sold to a gas. Vaporization is going from a liquid to a gas. Hence you can create two equations from the information that you have:

<span>Ga (s) --> Ga (g) delta H = 277 kJ/mol </span>

<span>Ga (l) --> Ga (g) delta H = 271 kJ/mol </span>

<span>From these two equations, you can then infer how to get the melting equation be simply finding the difference between the sublimation (two steps) and vaporization (one step). </span>

<span>Ga (s) --> Ga (l) delta H = 6 kJ/mol </span>

<span>At this point, all you need to do is a bit of stoichiometry. You start with 1.50 mol and multiply by the amount of energy per mole (6 kJ/mol). </span>

<span>9 kJ/mol (C)</span>

Charge: A piece of plastic has a net charge of +2.00 μC. How many more protons than electrons does this piece of plastic have? (
snow_lady [41]

Answer

given,

net charge = +2.00 μC

we know,

1 coulomb charge =  6.28 x 10¹⁸electrons

1 micro coulomb  charge =  6.28 x 10¹⁸ x 10⁻⁶ electron

                                         = 6.28 x 10¹² electrons

2.00 μC = 2 x 6.28 x 10¹² electrons

              = 1.256 x 10¹³ electrons

since net charge is positive.

The number of protons should be 1.256 x 10¹³ more than electrons.

hence, +2.00 μC have 1.256 x 10¹³ more protons than electrons.

Answer:

Explanation:

Given mg = 4N .

m = 4 / g

At the bottom of the swing let centripetal acceleration be a

T - mg = ma

9 - 4 = ma

Some gliders are launched from the ground by means of a winch, which rapidly reels in a towing cable attached to the glider. Wha
MArishka [77]

Answer:

P = 1.64 \times 10^4 Watt

Explanation:

Here we know that the glider is accelerated uniformly from rest to final speed of 25.7 m/s in total distance of d = 46.9 m

so we will have

v_f = 25.7 m/s

v_i = 0

d = 46.9

so for uniformly accelerated motion we have

d = \frac{v_f + v_i}{2} t

46.9 = \frac{25.7 + 0}{2}t

t = 3.65 s

now we will find the total work done given as change in kinetic energy

W = \frac{1}{2}mv^2

W = \frac{1}{2}(181)(25.7^2)

W = 5.97 \times 10^4 J

now power is given as

P = \frac{W}{t}

P = \frac{5.97 \times 10^4}{3.65}

P = 1.64 \times 10^4 Watt
