As he lifts the sack to his chest from the floor

Answer: Option (d) is the correct answer.

Explanation:

Work is defined as the force applied in order to move an object from a certain distance.

Mathematically,         W = F × d

where,       w = work

                  F = force

                  d = distance

Thus, when Lester lifts the sack to his chest from the floor then he is doing work as he is applying force on the sack in order to move it over his chest.

Consider a capacitor made of two rectangular metal plates of length and width , with a very small gap between the plates. There
mezya [45]

Answer:

F= σ² L² /2ε₀

F = (L² ε₀/4π)   ΔV² / r⁴

Explanation:

a)  For this exercise we can use Coulomb's law

          F = - k Q² / r²

where the negative sign indicates that the force is attractive and the value of the charge is equal to the two plates

Capacitance is defined by

         C = Q / ΔV

        Q = C ΔV

also the capacitance for a parallel plate capacitor is related to its shape

         C = ε₀ A / r

we substitute

         Q = ε₀ A ΔV / r

we substitute in the force equation

            F = k (ε₀ A ΔV / r)² / r²

           k = 1 / 4πε₀

           F = ε₀ /4π  L² ΔV² / r⁴4

           F = L² ΔV² ε₀/ (4π r⁴)

           F = (L² ε₀/4π)   ΔV² / r⁴

b) Another way to solve the exercise is to use the relationship between the force and the electric field

          F = q E

where we can calculate the field created by a plane using Gaussian law, where we use a cylinder with a base parallel to the plate as the Gaussian surface

           Ф = ∫E .dA = q_{int} / ε₀

the plate have two side

           2E A = q_{int} / ε₀

              E = σ / 2ε₀

               σ = q_{int} / A

substituting in force

          F = q σ / 2ε₀

the charge total on the other plate is

       q = σ A

       q = σ  L²

      F= σ² L² /2ε₀

A ball is thrown with a velocity of 35 meters per second at an angle of 30° above the horizontal. which quantity has a magnitude
enot [183]
The quantity that has a magnitude of zero when the ball is at the highest point in its trajectory is the vertical velocity.

In fact, the motion of the ball consists of two separate motions:
- the horizontal motion, on the x-axis, which is a uniform motion with constant velocity v_x=v_0 cos 30^{\circ}, where v_0=35 m/s
- the vertical motion, on the y-axis, which is a uniformly accelerated motion with constant acceleration g=9.81 m/s^2 directed downwards, and with initial velocity v_y=v_= sin 30^{\circ}. Due to the presence of the acceleration g on the vertical direction (pointing in the opposite direction of the initial vertical velocity), the vertical velocity of the ball decreases as it goes higher, up to a point where it becomes zero and it reverses its direction: when the vertical velocity becomes zero, the ball has reached its maximum height.

Two window washers, Bob and Joe, are on a 3.00 m long, 395 N scaffold supported by two cables attached to its ends. Bob weighs 8
WINSTONCH [101]

Answer:

- the forces on the left hand side is 1.038 kN

- the forces on the right hand side is 1.483 kN

Explanation:

Given the data in the question, as illustrated in the image below;

Length of the scaffold = 3 m

weight of the scaffold = 395 N

Weight of Bob = 805 N and stands 1 m from the left end

weight of washing equipment = 500N and on sits 2 m from the left end

Weight of Joe = 820 N and stand 0.500 m from the right end

so the force on the left cable will be;

T_{left = \frac{1}{3m}[ (805 N)( (3-1) m) + ( 395 N )( \frac{3}{2} m) + ( 500 N )(1m ) + ( 820 N)( 0.500m ) ]

T_{left =  \frac{1}{3m}[ 1610 + 592.5 + 500 + 410 ]

T_{left =  \frac{1}{3m}[ 3112.5 ]

T_{left =  1037.5 N

T_{left =  1.038 kN

Therefore, the forces on the left hand side is 1.038 kN

On the right hand side;

T_{Right =  ( 805 N + 395 N + 500 N + 820 N ) - 1037.5 N

T_{Right =  2520 N - 1037.5 N

T_{Right =  1482.5 N

T_{Right =  1.483 kN

Therefore, the forces on the right hand side is 1.483 kN
