a school district requires all graduating seniors to take a mathematics test. This year, the rest scores were approximately norm

ally distributed for the 1208 graduating seniors. This mean score on the test was a 74 and the standard deviation was 11. what percent of the graduating seniors had a test above 85? Express your answers to the nearest percent.

A score of 85 would be 1 standard deviation from the mean, 74.  Using the 68-95-99.7 rule, we know that 68% of normally distributed data falls within 1 standard deviation of the mean.  This means that 100%-68% = 32% of the data is either higher or lower.  32/2 = 16% of the data will be higher than 1 standard deviation from the mean and 16% of the data will be lower than 1 standard deviation from the mean.  This means that 16% of the graduating seniors should have a score above 85%.

Suppose that X is a random variable with mean and variance both equal to 20. What can be said about P{0 ≤ X ≤ 40}.
Dennis_Churaev [7]

Answer:

P(0 \leq X \40) = \frac{19}{20}

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that:

P(|X - 20| < 20) + P(|X - 20| \geq 20) = 1

So

P(0 \leq X \leq 40) = P(0-20 \leq X-20 \leq 40-20) = P(-20 \leq X \leq 20) = P(|X - 20| \leq 20)

P(|X - 20| \leq 20) = 1 - P(|X - 20| > 20) = 1 - \frac{20}{20^{2}} = \frac{19}{20}

So

P(0 \leq X \40) = \frac{19}{20}

Mark is treating his family to ice cream. He buys 4 sundaes and 3 cones for a total of $26. Brian also buys ice cream for his fa
jekas [21]
The cost of one sundae is s and cost of one cone is c.

Mark buys 4 sundae and 3 cones for a total of $26. Cost of 4 sundae will be 4s, cost of 3 cones will be 3c. So we can set up the equation for Mark as:

4s+3c=26

Brian buys 5 sundae and 2 cones for a total of $29. Cost of 5 sundae will be 5s, cost of 2 cones will be 2c. So we can set up the equation for Brian as:

5s+2c=29

Using these two equations, the cost of one sundae and one cone can be calculated.

For three minutes the temperature of a feverish person has had negative first derivative and positive second derivative.
nydimaria [60]

Answer:

A.) The temperature fell in the last minute, but less than it fell in the minute before.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that for three minutes the temperature of a feverish person has had negative first derivative and positive second derivative.

i.e. it temperature is represented by T, temperature is variable with

first derivative T' <0 and second derivative T">0

i.e. rate of change of temperature is negative or temperature is falling down in 3 minutes.

But the rate of rate of change of temperature was positive i.e. the rate of change of temperature is increasing as time increases.

So correct option would be option A

A.) The temperature fell in the last minute, but less than it fell in the minute before.
