Mary touched the Van de Graaff generator and all her hair stood on end. The charge from the generator was transferred to Mary's

hair so all of the strands had the same + charge. Her hairs all repelled each other and stood on end like you see here. This illustrates what law?

Answer: Given situation illustrates law of attraction.

Explanation:

According to the law of attraction opposite charges attract each other and like charges repel each other.

So, when charge from the generator was transferred to Mary's hair then all of them acquire a positive charge. As all of them have a similar charge so, they used to repel each other.

This repulsion of like charges is known as law of attraction.

List the salts in order from weakest to strongest lattice energy (most positive to most negative). magnesium chloride, barium ch
almond37 [142]

Answer: Option (6) is the correct answer.

Explanation:

Lattice energy is described as the energy released when formation of 1 mole of an ionic compound occurs due to the combination of its constituent ions.

Also, lattice energy is inversely proportional to the distance between the cation and anion. And, when we move down a group then there occurs an increase in the atomic radii of the atoms.

This means that smaller is the ionic distance between the cation and anion, more will be the lattice energy between the atoms.

Therefore, order from weakest to strongest lattice energy (most positive to most negative) for the given compounds is as follows.

 barium chloride < strontium chloride < calcium chloride < magnesium chloride

The electron dot structure for CI is
finlep [7]
The correct option is C.
A Lewis dot diagram is a representation of the valence electron of  an atom, which uses dot around the symbol of the atom. Chlorine has seven electrons in its outermost shell, these seven electrons are arranged in form of dot around the atom of chlorine. If you count the number of dot given in option C, you will notice that they are seven.

Basically team B would win since it is exerting a force of 900N unlike team A ( you can tell by doing 4900N minus 4000N ). It is very unbalanced.

If the kinetic energy of a particle is equal to twice its rest mass, what is the velocity of the particle? Determine if relativi
ivann1987 [24]

Answer:

The velocity of the particle is 2 m/s,

Explanation:

Kinetic energy is defined as energy of the body due to its motion. It is given by :

K.E=\frac{1}{2}mv^2

Where :

m = mass of the object

v = velocity of the object

We have , particle with mass m and its kinetic energy is twice its mass.

K.E=2m

2m=\frac{1}{2}mv^2

v^2=\frac{4}{1}

v=2

And unit of velocity are m/s , so the velocity of the particle is 2 m/s.

A precipitate forms when mixing solutions of sodium fluoride (NaF) and lead II nitrate (Pb(NO3)2). Complete and balance the net
Margarita [4]

Answer:

Pb^2+(aq) + 2F-(aq) → PbF2(s)

Explanation:

Step 1: Data given

sodium fluoride = NaF

lead(II)nitrate Pb(NO3)2

Step 2: The unbalanced equation

NaF(aq) + Pb(NO3)2(aq) →  PbF2(s) + NaNO3(aq)

Step 3: Balancing the equation

NaF(aq) + Pb(NO3)2(aq) →  PbF2(s) + NaNO3(aq)

On the left side we have 2x NO3 (in Pb(NO3)2), on the right side we have 1x NO3 (in NaNO3). To balance the amount of NO3 we hvae to multiply NaNO3 on the right side by 2.

NaF(aq) + Pb(NO3)2(aq) →  PbF2(s) + 2NaNO3(aq)

On the left side we have 1x Na (in NaF), on the right side we have 2x Na (in 2NaNO3). To balance the amount of Na we have to multiply NaF on the left side by 2. Now the equation is balanced.

2NaF(aq) + Pb(NO3)2(aq) →  PbF2(s) + 2NaNO3(aq)

Step 4: Calculate net ionic equation

The net ionic equation, for which spectator ions are omitted - remember that spectator ions are those ions located on both sides of the equation - will , after canceling those spectator ions in both side, look like this:

2Na+(aq) + 2F-(aq) + Pb^2+(aq) + 2NO3-(aq) → PbF2(s) + 2Na+(aq) + NO3-(aq)

Pb^2+(aq) + 2F-(aq) → PbF2(s)
