Answer:

The molar mass of C7H16 and the molar mass of CaC03 contain approximately the same number of grams per mol (g/mol)

Explanation:

C7H16 is an alkane group compound known as Heptane. The chemical formula can also be represented as H₃C(CH₂)₅CH₃. The molar mass can be calculated as the sum of the atomic mass present in the compound. It molar mass can be calculated as follow :

atomic mass of carbon = 12.0107

atomic mass of hydrogen = 1.00784

From the compound, carbon has 7 atom = 12.0107 × 7 = 84.074

Hydrogen has 16 atom = 1.00784 × 16 = 16.12544

sum of the atomic masses = 16.12544 + 84.074 = 100.19944

molar mass = 100.19944g/mol

CaCO3 is known as calcium carbonate. They are mainly found in limestone .  The molar mass is calculated as the sum of the atomic mass present in the compound. it can be calculates as follows ;

atomic mass of calcium = 40.078

atomic mas of carbon = 12.0107

atomic mass of oxygen = 15.999

From the compound, calcium has 1 atom = 40.078

carbon has 1 atom = 12.0107

oxygen has 3 atom = 15.999 × 3 = 47.997

sum of the atomic masses = 40.078 + 12.0107 + 47.997 = 100.0857

molar mass  = 100.0857g/mol

From the calculation above you will notice both compound contain approximately the same grams per mol . Both have approximately the same amount of molar mass.

Molar mass of calcium carbonate = 100.0857g/mol

Molar mass of Heptane =  100.19944g/mol

(b) When a sample of C2H5OH was combusted, the volume of CO2(g) produced was 18.0 L when measured at
myrzilka [38]

Answer:

i) The number of moles of CO₂ (g) produced from the reaction = 0.07663 mole

ii) The volume of C₂H₅OH (l), in mL, that was combusted to produce the volume of CO₂ (g)

collected = 2.234 mL

iii) The amount of heat, in KJ, that was released by the combustion reaction = 52.4 kJ

Explanation:

The balanced chemical reaction when ethanol is combusted is given as

C₂H₅OH (l) + 3O₂ (g) → 2CO₂ (g) + 3H₂O (g)

The volume of CO₂(g) produced was 18.0 L when measured at 21.7°C and 1.03 atm.

i) Number of moles of CO₂ (g) produced by the reaction

With the correct and logical assumption that CO₂ is an ideal gas, the ideal gas equation has the relation

PV = nRT

P = pressure = 1.03 atm = 1.03 × 101325 Pa = 10,435.96 Pa

V = Volume of the gas = 18.0 L = 0.018 m³

n = number of moles = ?

R = molar gas constant = 8.314 J/mol.K

T = absolute temperature in Kelvin = 21.7 + 273.15 = 294.85 K

(10,435.96 × 0.018) = n × 8.314 × 294.85

n = 0.076629106 = 0.07663 mole

ii) The volume of C₂H₅OH (l), in mL, that was combusted to produce the volume of CO₂(g)

collected.

Recall the stoichiometric balance of the reaction

C₂H₅OH (l) + 3O₂ (g) → 2CO₂ (g) + 3H₂O (g)

2 moles of CO₂ is obtained from 1 mole of C₂H₅OH

0.07663 mole of CO₂ will be obtained from (0.07663×1/2) mole of C₂H₅OH; that is, 0.03831 mole of C₂H₅OH.

But we can convert this number of moles used up to mass of C₂H₅OH produced

Mass = (Number of moles) × (Molar Mass)

Molar mass of C₂H₅OH = 46.07 g/mol

Mass of C₂H₅OH combusted from the reaction

= 0.03831 × 46.07 = 1.765 g

But density of C₂H₅OH = 0.79 g/mL

Density = (Mass)/(Volume)

Volume = (Mass)/(Density) = (1.765/0.79)

= 2.234 mL

iii) The amount of heat, in KJ, that was released by the combustion reaction.

The heat of combustion of C₂H₅OH at the temperature of the reaction = -1367.6 kJ/mol. (From literature)

1 mole of C₂H₅OH combusts to give 1367.6 kJ of heat

0.03831 mole of C₂H₅OH will give (0.03831×1367.6) = 52.39 kJ = 52.4 kJ

Hope this Helps!!!!

The enthalpy of formation of water is –285.8 kJ/mol. What can be inferred from this statement?
LiRa [457]
A negative formation enthalpy means that the reaction is exothermic, or that heat is released during the process.

Consider the complex ion [CO(NH3)6]3+. Which response contains all of the following statements that are true, and no false state
Alja [10]

Answer:

III, IV, and V

Explanation:

The complex [CO(NH3)6]3+ is a diamagnetic complex. It a low spin d^6 complex. Most d^6 complexes are low spin due to the higher crystal field stabilization energy of the low spin over the high spin arrangement.

d^6 metal complexes are known to be octahedral (a coordination number of 6 leads to octahedral geometry). Octahedral complexes does not have geometric isomers rather, may exist as the fac or her stereo isomers.

How many atoms are in 80.45 g of magnesium?
KatRina [158]

Hello!

To find the amount of atoms that are in 80.45 grams of magnesium, we will need to know Avogadro's number and the mass of one mole of magnesium.

Avogadro's number is 6.02 x 10^23 atoms, and one mole of magnesium is equal to 24.31 grams.

1. Divide by one mole of magnesium

80.45 / 24.31 = 3.309 moles (rounded to the number of sigfigs)

2. Multiply moles by Avogadro's number

3.309 x (6.02 x 10^23) = 1.99 x 10^24 (rounded to the number of sigfigs)

Therefore, there are 1.99 x 10^24 atoms in 80.45 grams of magnesium.
