"Displacement" = (straight-line distance and direction from start-point to end-point)

a). From the first picture to the the second picture, Car-A has moved forward by one telephone pole.  That's 70 m.  His displacement during that five seconds is 70-m in the direction of whatever direction the road is heading.

b). From the first picture to the the second picture, Car-B has moved forward by TWO telephone poles.  That's 140 m.  His displacement during that five seconds is 140-m in the direction of whatever direction the road is heading.

Average velocity = (displacement) / (time for the displacement)

c). Car-A average velocity = (70 m)/(5 sec) = 14 m/s in the direction of the road.

d). Car-B average velocity = (140m)/(5sec) = 28 m/s in the direction of the road.

What is the threshold frequency for sodium metal if a photon with frequency 6.66 × 1014 s−1 ejects a photon with 7.74 × 10−20 J
FrozenT [24]

Answer:

5.5 × 10^14 Hz or s^-1

no orange light has less frequency so no photoelectric effect

Explanation:

hf = hf0 + K.E

HERE h is Planck 's constant having value 6.63 × 10 ^-34 J s

f is frequency of incident photon and f0 is threshold frequency

hf0 = hf- k.E

6.63 × 10 ^-34 × f0 = 6.63 × 10 ^-34× 6.66 × 10^14 - 7.74× 10^-20

6.63 × 10 ^-34 × f0 = 3.64158×10^-19

                           f0 = 3.64158×10^-19/ 6.63 × 10 ^-34

                           f0 = 5.4925 × 10^14

                            f0 =5.5 × 10^14 Hz or s^-1

frequency of orange light is 4.82 × 10^14 Hz which is less than threshold frequency hence photo electric effect will not be observed for orange light

While traveling from Boston to Hartford, Person A drives at a constant speed of 55 mph for the entire trip. Person B drives at 6
Ne4ueva [31]

Answer:

B will take 1.034 times the time of A from Boston to Hartford.

Explanation:

Let the distance from Boston to Hartford be S.

Person A drives at a constant speed of 55 mph for the entire trip,

Time taken by person A

             t_A=\frac{S}{55}

Person B drives at 65 mph for half the distance and then drives 45 mph for the second half of the distance.

Time taken by person B

            t_B=\frac{\frac{S}{2}}{65}+\frac{\frac{S}{2}}{45}=\frac{S}{130}+\frac{S}{90}=\frac{220S}{130\times 90}=\frac{11S}{585}

Ratio of time of arrival of B to A

                      \frac{t_B}{t_A}=\frac{\frac{11S}{585}}{\frac{S}{55}}=\frac{121}{117}=1.034

B will take 1.034 times the time of A from Boston to Hartford.

A vertical spring of constant k = 400 N/m hangs at rest. When a 2 kg mass is attached to it, and it is released, the spring exte
Viefleur [7K]

Answer:

4.9 cm

Explanation:

From Hook's Law,

F = ke......................... Equation 1

Where F= force, e = extension, k = spring constant.

Note: the Force acting on the the spring is the weight of the mass.

W = mg.

F = mg.................... Equation 2

Where m = mass, g = acceleration due to gravity

Substitute equation 2 into equation 1

mg = ke

make e the subject of the equation

e = mg/k............... Equation 3.

Given: m = 2 kg, g = 9.8 m/s², k = 400 N/m

e = (2×9.8)/400

e = 19.6/400

e = 0.049 m

e = 4.9 cm

Aleks04 [339]

Answer:

0.3677181864 m

Explanation:

u = Velocity = 1.5 m/s

\theta = Angle = 20°

y = -20 cm

Velocity components

u_x=ucos\theta\\\Rightarrow u_x=1.5cos20\\\Rightarrow u_x=1.40953\ m/s

u_y=usin\theta\\\Rightarrow u_y=1.5sin20\\\Rightarrow u_y=0.51303\ m/s

Acceleration components

a_x=0

a_y=-9.81\ m/s^2

y=u_yt+\dfrac{1}{2}a_yt^2\\\Rightarrow -0.2=0.51303\times t+\dfrac{1}{2}\times -9.81t^2\\\Rightarrow 4.905t^2-0.51303t-0.2=0

t=\frac{-\left(-0.51303\right)+\sqrt{\left(-0.51303\right)^2-4\cdot \:4.905\left(-0.2\right)}}{2\cdot \:4.905}, \frac{-\left(-0.51303\right)-\sqrt{\left(-0.51303\right)^2-4\cdot \:4.905\left(-0.2\right)}}{2\cdot \:4.905}\\\Rightarrow t=0.26088, -0.15629

Time taken is 0.26088 seconds

x=u_xt+\dfrac{1}{2}a_xt^2\\\Rightarrow x=1.40953\times 0.26088\\\Rightarrow x=0.3677181864\ m

The distance the beetle travels on the ground is 0.3677181864 m
