Boron has an average mass of 10.81. One isotope of boron has a mass of 10.012938 and a relative abundance of 19.80 percent. The

other isotope has a relative abundance of 80.20 percent. What is the mass of the two isotopes?

The average mass of an atom is calculated with the formula:

average mass = abundance of isotope (1) × mass of isotope (1) + abundance of isotope (2) × mass of isotope (2) + ...  an so on

For the boron we have two isotopes, so the formula will become:

average mass of boron = abundance of isotope (1) × mass of isotope (1) + abundance of isotope (2) × mass of isotope (2)

We plug in the values:

10.81 = 0.1980 × 10.012938  + 0.8020 × mass of isotope (2)

10.81 = 1.98 + 0.8020 × mass of isotope (2)

10.81 - 1.98 = 0.8020 × mass of isotope (2)

8.83 = 0.8020 × mass of isotope (2)

mass of isotope (2) = 8.83 / 0.8020

mass of isotope (2) = 11.009975

mass of isotope (1) = 10.012938 (given by the question)

Answer:

A. It has a partial negative charge on oxygen and a partial positive charge on hydrogen.

Explanation:

There is an electronegativity difference between O and H atoms. The electronegativity value of   O and H are 3.5 and 2.1 respectively. So the electronegativity different of the O-H bond is 3.5- 2.1 = 1.4 thus making the O-H bond polar.  O being the more electronegative bond acquires a partial negative charge and H acquires a partial positive charge.

What elements are in NaC2HO4 and how many atoms are in each element
JulijaS [17]

Answer:

Each molecule contains one atom of A and one atom of B. The reaction does not use all of the atoms to form compounds.

                 A + B ⟶ Product

Particles: 6      8              6

If six A atoms form six product molecules, each molecule can contain only one A atom.

The formula of the product is ABₙ.

If n = 1, we need six atoms of B.

If n = 2, we need 12 atoms of B. However, we have only eight atoms of B, so the formula of the product must be AB.

Thus, 6A + 6B ⟶ 6AB, with two B atoms left over.

Mr. Smith is hyperglycemic with a blood glucose level of 300mg/ml of blood. Explain how homeostasis would regulate his glucose l
aleksley [76]

Answer:

When the animal has eaten food and the blood glucose level in the body increases. The pancreas cells in the body detects the increase in the blood glucose which leads to increase the insulin hormone.

This decreases the blood glucose level in the level. This is how the negative feedback works in the body if the level of glucose increases.

Negative feedback is the way by which the body maintains homeostasis and maintains equilibrium in the body.
