Molality (m) = moles of solute/ mass of solvent  -(i)
moles of solute = 117.2 g/ 208.25 g mol∧-1 => 0.56 moles  -(ii)
mass of solvent = density x volume (V) => 0.79 g/ml x V  -(iii)
*putting values of m, (ii) & (iii) in (i)
0.75 = 0.56/0.79 V
0.56/(0.75 x 0.79) = V
V = 950 mL

<u>Answer:</u> The correct answer is Option C.

<u>Explanation:</u>

We are given:

Molarity of isoamyl salicylate = 0.75 M

This means that 0.75 moles of isoamyl salicylate is present in 1 L or 1000 mL of solution.

  • To calculate the mass of isoamyl salicylate, we use the equation:

\text{Number of moles}=\frac{\text{Given mass}}{\text{Molar mass}}

Moles of isoamyl salicylate = 0.75 moles

Molar mass of isoamyl salicylate = 208.25 g/mol

Putting values in above equation, we get:

0.75mol=\frac{\text{Mass of isoamyl salicylate}}{208.25g/mol}\\\\\text{Mass of isoamyl salicylate}=156.19g

By applying unitary method, we get:

156.19 grams of isoamyl salicylate is present in 1000 mL of solution.

So, 117.2 grams of isoamyl salicylate will be present in = \frac{1000mL}{156.19g}\times 117.2g=750mL of solution.

Thus, 117.2 grams of isoamyl salicylate is present in 750 mL of solution.

  • To calculate the mass of solution, we use the equation:

Density=\frac{Mass}{Volume}

Density of solution = 0.7893 g/mL

Volume of solution = 1000 mL

Putting values in above equation, we get:

0.7893g/mL=\frac{\text{Mass of solution}}{1000mL}\\\\\text{Mass of solution}=789.3g

By applying unitary method, we get:

156.19 grams of isoamyl salicylate is present in 789.3 g of solution.

So, 117.2 grams of isoamyl salicylate will be present in = \frac{789.3g}{156.19g}\times 117.2g=592g of solution.

Thus, 117.2 grams of isoamyl salicylate is present in 592 g of solution.

Hence, the correct answer is Option C.

In the manufacture of paper, logs are cut into small chips, which are stirred into an alkaline solution that dissolves several o
Kitty [74]

Answer:

The estimated feed rate of logs is 14.3 logs/min.

Explanation:

The product of the process is 2000 tons/day of dry wood pulp, of 85 wt% of cellulose. That represents (2000*0.85)=1700 tons/day of cellulose.

That cellulose has to be feed by the wood chips, which had 47 wt% of cellulose in its composition. That means you need (1700/0.47)=3617 tons/day of wood chips to provide all that cellulose.

Th entering flow is wood chips with 45 wt% of water. This solution has an specific gravity of 0.640.

To know the specific gravity of the wood chips we have to write a volume balance. We also know that Mw=0.45*M and Mc=0.55*M.

V=V_c+V_w\\\\M/\rho=M_c/\rho_c+Mw/\rho_w\\\\M/\rho=0.55*M/\rho_c+0.45*M/\rho_w\\\\1/\rho=0.55/\rho_c +0.45/\rho_w\\\\0.55/\rho_c=1/\rho-0.45/\rho_w\\\\0.55/\rho_c=1/(0.64*\rho_w)-0.45/\rho_w=(1/\rho_w)*(\frac{1}{0.64}-\frac{0.45}{1}  )\\\\0.55/\rho_c=1.1125/\rho_w\\\\\rho_c=\frac{0.55}{1.1125}*\rho_w= 0.494*\rho_w

The specific gravity of the wood chips is 0.494.

The average volume of a log is

V_l=(\pi*D^{2} /4)*L=(3.1416*\frac{8^{2}  \, in^{2} }{4} )*9ft*(\frac{12 in}{1ft})= 21714 in^{3}=12.57 ft^{3}

The weight of one log is

M=\rho*V=0.494*\rho_w*12.57  ft^{3}\\\\M=0.494*62.4\frac{lbm}{ft^{3} }*12.57ft^{3}\\\\M=387.5lbm

To provide 3617 ton/day of wood chips, we need

n=\frac{supply}{M_{log}}=\frac{3617 tons/day}{387.5 lbm}*\frac{2204lbm}{1ton}\\\\n=20573 logs/day=14.3 logs/min

The feed rate of logs is 14.3 logs/min.

What is the number of moles in 0.025 g (NH4)2Cr2O7?
Free_Kalibri [48]
We are asked to calculate the number of moles in a given mass of a substance. To be able to calculate it, we need the molar mass of the substance. For (NH4)2Cr2O7, the molar mass would be <span>252.07 g/mol. We calculate as follows:

0.025 g </span>(NH4)2Cr2O7 ( 1 mol / 252.07 g ) = 0.0001 mol <span>(NH4)2Cr2O7

Hope this answers the question. Have a nice day.</span>

Write the equations that represent the first and second ionization steps for hydroselenic acid (H2Se) in water. (Use H3O+ instea
Otrada [13]

Answer:

The equations are

1) H_{2}Se+H_{2}O--> H_{3}O^{+}+HSe^{-}

2) HSe^{-} +H_{2}O--> H_{3}O^{+}+Se^{-2}

Explanation:

There are two ionization steps in the dissociation of hydroselenic acid.

In first dissociation the H₂Se loses one proton and forms hydrogen selenide ion as shown below:

H_{2}Se+H_{2}O--> H_{3}O^{+}+HSe^{-}

The next step is again removal of a proton from the base formed above.

HSe^{-} +H_{2}O--> H_{3}O^{+}+Se^{-2}
