Answer:

-604 kJ

Explanation:

Let's consider the complete combustion of propane.

C₃H₈(g) + 5 O₂(g) → 3 CO₂(g) + 4 H₂O(l)

Considering the standard enthalpies of formation (ΔH°f) and the moles (n) in the balanced equation, we can calculate the standard enthalpy of the reaction (ΔH°) using the following expression.

ΔH° = 3 mol × ΔH°f(CO₂(g)) + 4 mol × ΔH°f(H₂O(l)) - 1 mol × ΔH°f(C₃H₈(g)) - 5 mol × ΔH°f(O₂(g))

ΔH° = 3 mol × (-393.5 kJ/mol) + 4 mol × (-285.8 kJ/mol) - 1 mol × (-103.8 kJ/mol) - 5 mol × 0

ΔH° = -2220 kJ

2220 kJ of heat are released per mole of propane. The heat released when 12.0 g of propane is combusted is: (molar mass 44.1 g/mol)

\frac{-2220kJ}{mol} .\frac{1mol}{44.1g}.12.0g =-604 kJ

Answer:  600 kJ

-

Explanation:

                        C₃H₈ (g)  + 5 O₂ (g) =============== 3 CO₂ (g)  +  4 H₂O (l)

Δ⁰Hf   kJ/mol       -104             0                                       -393.5         -285.8

Δ⁰Hcomb C₃H₈ = 3(-393.5) + 4 (-285.80) - (-104)  kJ/mol

Δ⁰Hcomb = 2219.70 kJ/mol

n= m /MW   MW c₃H₈ = 44.1 g/mol

n= 12 g/44.1 g/mol = 0.27 mol

then for 12 g the heat released will be

0.27 mol x 2219.70 kJ/mol =  600 KJ

Why does silver iodide have a higher melting point than vanillin
MAVERICK [17]
AgI has a higher melting point than vanillin because it is an ionic compound. The bonds are held more tightly together than in vanillin because it is a covalent compound. Ionic bonds have a higher melting point because the electrons are being transferred from one atom to the other.

What is the molarity of a solution that contains 0.500 mole of kno3 dissolved in 0.500-liter of solution?
belka [17]

Answer : The molarity of solution is, 1.00 M

Explanation : Given,

Moles of KNO_3 = 0.500 mol

Volume of solution = 0.500 L

Molarity : It is defined as the number of moles of solute present in one liter of volume of solution.

Formula used :

\text{Molarity}=\frac{\text{Moles of }KNO_3}{\text{Volume of solution (in L)}}

Now put all the given values in this formula, we get:

\text{Molarity}=\frac{0.500mol}{0.500L}=1.00mole/L=1.00M

Therefore, the molarity of solution is, 1.00 M

In order for fission reactions to be successful, they must be self-perpetuating, meaning they must be able to keep themselves go
aleksandrvk [35]

Answer:

Option C is correct.

The minimum amount of material that is needed for a fission reaction to keep going is called the critical mass.

Explanation:

Nuclear fission is the term used to describe the breakdown of the nucleus of a parent isotope into daughter nuclei.

Normally, the initial energy supplied for nuclear fission is the energy to initiate the first breakdown of the first set of radioactive isotopes that breakdown. Once that happens, the energy released from the first breakdown is enough to drive further breakdown of numerous isotopas in a manner that leads to more energy generation.

But, for this to be able to be sustained and not fizzle out, a particular amount of radioactive material to undergo nuclear fission must be present. This particular amount is termed 'critical mass'

Hope this Helps!!!
