Convection is a means of heat transfer that involves fluids, such as liquids or gasses. The process of convection is responsible

for air and water currents as in the illustration. As the temperature of fluids increases their molecular motion increases, therefore as fluids warm their density decreases. A classroom demonstration of convection involves placing a small covered container filled with warm water to which food coloring has been added into a large container of cold water. Based on the information in the prompt, select the observations that would be expected in this demonstration. The warm water will rise out of its container when uncovered. The cold water will flow into the container of warm water. The warm water will sink as it cools. The temperature of the warm water will decrease to the initial temperature of the cold water. Eventually all of the water will reach thermal equilibrium. The final temperature will be the average of both initial temperatures.

Answer:

Eventually all of the water will reach thermal equilibrium. The final temperature will be the average of both initial temperatures.

Explanation:

If two liquids, one hot (that is, at high temperature) is in indirect contact  with another liquid which is cold (that is, at low temperature), a flux of heat will be transferred from the hot water to the cold water which will result in hot liquid losing temperature and cold liquid increasing its temperature. This flux will continue until an equilibrium is met and the temperatures are equal.

Superman is standing 393 m horizontally away from Lois Lane. A villain drops a rock from 4.00 m directly above Lois. If Superman
Sergio039 [100]

Answer:

-963.93 m/s²

Explanation:

t = Time taken

u = Initial velocity

v = Final velocity

s = Displacement

a = Acceleration

s=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^2\\\Rightarrow 4=0t+\frac{1}{2}\times 9.81\times t^2\\\Rightarrow t=\sqrt{\frac{4\times 2}{9.81}}\\\Rightarrow t=0.903\ s

s=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^2\\\Rightarrow 393=0\times 0.0903+\frac{1}{2}\times a\times 0.903^2\\\Rightarrow a=\frac{393\times 2}{0.903^2}\\\Rightarrow a=963.93\ m/s^2

The acceleration of Superman would be -963.93 m/s² from Lois' perspective

A 38 kg crate rests on a floor. A horizontal pulling force of 170 N is needed to start the crate
Mandarinka [93]

Answer:

0.456033049

Explanation:

F=\mu N where N=mg hence

F=\mu mg where m is mass of object, g is acceleration due to gravity whose value is taken as 9.81 m/s^{2}, \mu is the coefficient of static friction and F is the applied force.

Making \mu the subject we obtain

\mu=\frac {mg}{N} and substituting m for 38 Kg, g for 9.81 m/s^{2} and 170 N for  F we obtain

\mu=\frac{170} {38*9.81}=0.456033049

Therefore, the coefficient of static friction is 0.456033049

A solution is oversaturated with solute. Which could be done to decrease the oversaturation?
salantis [7]
Ans: Dilute the solution

Explanation:
To decrease the over-saturation, dilute the solution. Dilution<span> is the process of decreasing the solute's concentration in the </span>solution. It is<span> usually done by mixing with more solvent. In other words, to </span>dilute<span> a </span>solution<span> means to add more solvent without the addition of more solute.</span>

mr Goodwill [35]

Answer

Hi,

correct answer is {D} 3.5 m/s²

Explanation

Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity with time. Acceleration can occur when a moving body is speeding up, slowing down or changing direction.

Acceleration is calculated by the equation =change in velocity/change in time

a= {velocity final-velocity initial}/(change in time)

a=v-u/Δt

The units for acceleration is meters per second square m/s²

In this example, initial velocity =2.0m/s⇒u

Final velocity=44.0m/s⇒v

Time taken for change in velocity=12 s⇒Δt

a= (44-2)/12  = 42/12

3.5 m/s²

Best Wishes!
