In a mixture of volatile substances, the vapor pressure of the solution depends on the vapor pressure of both substances (solute

and solvent). Each component can evaporate, but its vapor pressure is lowered by the presence of the other substance following Rault's law. The vapor pressure of the solvent is calculated using Psolvent = Xsolvent*Posolvent and the vapor pressure of the solute is calculated using Psolute = Xsolute*Posolute. The total vapor pressure can be calculated by Dalton's law of partial pressures, Ptotal = Psolvent + Psolute.At 25oC, the vapor pressure of pure benzene (C6H6, 78.11 g/mol) is 96 torr. At the same temperature, the vapor pressure of pure toluene (C7H8, 92.14 g/mol) is 14 torr. Consider a solution containing 2.15 mol of benzene and 8.53 mol of toluene. Calculate the vapor pressure above the solution. Enter your answer in units of torr to three significant figures.

Answer:

30.4 torr

Explanation:

We have all the information which is required to solve this question ( more than we even need as the molecular weight)

Ptotal = Ptoluene + Pbenzene

Ptotal = Xtoluene Pºtoluene + XbenzenePºbenzene

The mole fraction is given by the formula:

X =number of moles / total number of moles

Xtoluene = 8.53 / (2.15+8.53) = 0.80

Xbenzene = 2.15 / 10.68 = 0.20

⇒Ptotal = 0.80 x 14torr + 0.20 x 96 torr = 30.4 torr

Using the equation, C5H12 + 8O2 Imported Asset 5CO2 + 6H2O, if an excess of pentane (C5H12) were supplied, but only 4 moles of o
ser-zykov [4K]
Answer: 3 moles of water would be produced in present case.

Reason:
Reaction involved in present case is:
                            C5H12 + 8O2 → 5CO2 + 6H2O

In above reaction, 1 mole of C5H12 reacts with 8 moles of oxygen to give 6 moles of water.

Thus, 4 moles of oxygen will react with 0.5 mole of C5H12, to generate 3 moles of H2O.

How many moles are equal to 5.82 x 10^23 atoms of tungsten (w)
fiasKO [112]

Answer:

0.97 mole

Explanation:

1 mole will give 6.02×10^23 atoms

Xmole of tungsten will give 5.82×10^23 atom of tungsten

X= 5.82×10^23/ 6.02×10^23

X = 0.97 moles of tungsten

vanadium has an atomic mass of 50.9415 amu. it has two common isotopes.one isotopes has a mass of 50.9440 amu and a relative abu
Kaylis [27]

Explanation:

Average atomic mass of the vanadium = 50.9415 amu

Isotope (I) of vanadium' s abundance = 99.75 %= 0.9975

Atomic mass of Isotope (I) of vanadium ,m= 50.9440 amu

Isotope (II) of vanadium' s abundance =(100%- 99.75 %) = 0.25 % = 0.0025

Atomic mass of Isotope (II) of vanadium ,m' = ?

Average atomic mass of vanadium =

m × abundance of isotope(I) + m' × abundance of isotope (II)

50.9415 amu =50.9440 amu× 0.9975 + m' × 0.0025

m'= 49.944 amu

The atomic mass of isotope (II) of vanadium is 49.944 amu.
