<span>the balanced equation for the combustion of pentane is as follows:

C5H12 + 8O2 --> 5CO2 + 6H2O

excess pentane is allowed to react with 4 moles of oxygen. this means that pentane is the excess reactant and O</span>₂<span> is the limiting reactant. Limiting reactant is the reagent that is fully used up in the reaction and amount of product formed depends on the amount of limiting reactant present.
Stoichiometry of O</span>₂<span> to H</span>₂<span>O is 8: 6.
If 8 mol of O</span>₂<span> forms 6 mol of H</span>₂<span>O then 4 mol of O</span>₂<span> forms - 6/8 x 4 = 3 mol of H</span>₂<span>O
therefore 3 mol of H</span>₂<span>O is formed</span>

Answer: 3 <span>moles of water would be produced in present case.
</span>
Reason:
Reaction involved in present case is:
<span>                            C5H12 + 8O2 </span>→<span> 5CO2 + 6H2O

In above reaction, 1 mole of C5H12 reacts with 8 moles of oxygen to give 6 moles of water.

Thus, 4 moles of oxygen will react with 0.5 mole of C5H12, to generate 3 moles of H2O.</span>

In this experiment, 0.170 g of caffeine is dissolved in 10.0 ml of water. the caffeine is extracted from the aqueous solution th
zmey [24]

solution:

Weight of caffeine is W = 0.170 gm.

Volume of water is V= 10 ml

Volume of methylene chloride which extracted caffeine is v= 5ml

No of portions n=3

Distribution co-efficient= 4.6

Total amount of caffeine that can be unextracted is given by

w_{n}=w\times[\frac{k_{Dx}v}{k_{Dx}v+v}]^n\\w_{3}=0.170[\frac{4.6\times10}{(4.6\times10+5)}]^3\\=0.170[\frac{46}{46+5}]^3\\=0.170[\frac{46}{51}]^3\\=0.170[\frac{97336}{132651}]\\=0.170\times0.734=0.125gms

amount of caffeine un extracted is 0.125gms

amount of caffeine extracted=0.170-0.125

                                                       =0.045 gms

Suppose you are titrating vinegar, which is an acetic acid solution of unknown strength, with a sodium hydroxide solution accord
Marina CMI [18]

Answer:

M_{acid}=0.563M

Explanation:

Hello there!

In this case, given the neutralization of the acetic acid as a weak one with sodium hydroxide as a strong base, we can see how the moles of the both of them are the same at the equivalence point; thus, it is possible to write:

M_{acid}V_{acid}=M_{base}V_{base}

Thus, we solve for the molarity of the acid to obtain:

M_{acid}=\frac{M_{base}V_{base}}{V_{acid}} \\\\ M_{acid}=\frac{33.98mL*0.1656M}{10.0mL}\\\\ M_{acid}=0.563M

A sample of bismuth weighing 0.687 g was converted to bismuth chloride by reacting it first with HNO3, and then with HCI, follow
alisha [4.7K]

Answer:

The empirical formula is BiCl3

% Bi = 66.27 %

Explanation:

Step 1: Data given

Mass of bismuth = 0.687 grams

Mass of bismuth chloride produced = 1.032 grams

Molar mass of bismuth = 208.98 g/mol

Molar mass of bismuth chloride = 315.33 g/mol

Step 2: The balanced equation

Step 3: Calculate moles of Bi

Moles Bi = mass Bi / molar mass Bi

Moles Bi = 0.687 grams / 208.98 g/mol

Moles Bi =  0.00329 moles

Step 4: Calculate moles of Cl

Mass of Cl = 1.032 - 0.687  = 0.345 moles

Moles Cl = 0.345 moles / 35.45 g/mol

Moles Cl = 0.00973 moles Cl

Step 5: Calculate mol ratio

We divide by the smaller number of moles:

Bi: 0.00329 / 0.00329 = 1

Cl: 0.0097The empirical formula is BiCl33/0.00329 = 3

Step 6: Calculate molar mass of BiCl3

Molar mass = 208.98 + 3*35.45 = 315.33 g/mol

Step 7: Calculate percent of Bi

% Bi = (208.98 / 315.33) * 100%

% Bi = 66.27 %
