A puck rests on a horizontal frictionless plane. A string is wound around the puck and pulled on with constant force. What fract
Ivan

Answer:

Explanation:

Let v be the linear velocity ,  ω be the angular velocity  and I be the moment of inertia of the the puck.

Kinetic energy ( linear ) = 1/2 mv²

Rotational kinetic energy = 1/2 I ω²

I = 1/2 m r² ( m and r be the mass and radius of the puck )

Rotational kinetic energy = 1/2 x1/2 m r² ω²

= 1/4 m v² ( v = r ω )

Total energy

= Kinetic energy ( linear ) + Rotational kinetic energy

= 1/2 mv² +  1/4 m v²

= 3/4 mv²

rotational K E / Total K E = 1/4 m v² / 3/4 mv²

= 1 /3

So  1 /3  rd of total energy is rotational K E.

refrigerant 134a enters a compressor operating at steady state as saturated vapor at 0.12 MPa and exits at 1.2 MPa and 70 C at a
Afina-wow [57]

Answer:

the power input to the compressor is 7.19Kw

Explanation:

Hello!

To solve this problem follow the steps below.

1. We will call 1 the refrigerant state at the compressor inlet and 2 at the outlet.

2. We use thermodynamic tables to determine enthalpies in states 1 and 2.

(note: Through laboratory tests, thermodynamic tables were developed, these allow to know all the thermodynamic properties of a substance (entropy, enthalpy, pressure, specific volume, internal energy etc ..)

through prior knowledge of two other properties such as pressure and temperature.  )

h1[quality=1, P=0.12Mpa)=237KJ/Kg

h2(P=1.2Mpa, t=70C)=300.6KJ/kg

3. uses the first law of thermodynamics in the compressor that states that the energy that enters a system is the same that must come out

Q=heat=0.32kJ/s

W=power input to the compressor

m=mass flow=0.108kg/S

m(h1)+W=Q+m(h2)

solving for W

W=Q+m(h2-h1)

W=0.32+0.108(300.6-237)=7.19Kw

the power input to the compressor is 7.19Kw

Traffic officials indicate, it takes longer to ______ when you drive fast.
nignag [31]
The answer in the blank is that it is difficult to accelerate at decelerate the vehicle when it is on a fast speed because having a fast speed makes it difficult to adjust the meter as well as if you try to decelerate the vehicle, it could burn out the tires and engine as it is in the fast speed, in accelerating it, it could also be complicated because it would only make the car faster enough that you may no longer control of how to stop it.

A man is dragging a trunk up the loading ramp of a mover’s truck. The ramp has a slope angle of 20.0°, and the man pulls upward
AleksandrR [38]

Answer:

(a)  104 N

(b) 52 N

Explanation:

Given Data

Angle of inclination of the ramp: 20°

F makes an angle of 30° with the ramp

The component of F parallel to the ramp is Fx = 90 N.

The component of F perpendicular to the ramp is Fy.

(a)

Let the +x-direction be up the incline and the +y-direction by the perpendicular to the surface of the incline.

Resolve F into its x-component from Pythagorean theorem:

Fx=Fcos30°

Solve for F:

F= Fx/cos30°

Substitute for Fx from given data:

Fx=90 N/cos30°

   =104 N

(b) Resolve r into its y-component from Pythagorean theorem:

     Fy = Fsin 30°

   Substitute for F from part (a):

     Fy = (104 N) (sin 30°)

          = 52 N
