Answer:

0.49

Explanation:

The fundamental frequency in string is expressed as Fo = V/2L where;

Fo is the fundamental frequency

V is the speed of sound in air

L is the length of the string

Since harmonics are integral multiples of the fundamental frequency, the first harmonic F1 = 2fo, second harmonic F2 = 3fo and third harmonics f3 = 4fo

Since the string produces a 700 Hz tone when it vibrates in the third harmonic, this means that F3 = 700Hz

From F3 = 4fo... 1

Substituting Fo = V/2L in equation 1, this will give;

F3 = 4(V/2L)

F3 = 4V/2L

Also note that the length of the string in terms of wavelength in the third harmonics is L = 2¶ where ¶ is the wavelength.

F3 = 4V/2(2¶)

F3 = 4V/4¶

F3 = V/¶

¶ = V/F3

Given V = 344m/s and F3 = 700Hz

¶ = 344/700

¶ = 0.49

The wavelength of the tone in air is closest to 0.49

Two cars start 200 m apart and drive toward each other at a steady 10 m/s. On the front of one of them, an energetic grasshopper
vladimir1956 [14]

Answer:

Total distance does the grasshopper travel before the cars hit is 150 m

Explanation:

Each car moves x=100 m before they collide. Both the cars moving in constant velocity. time taken t by each car is

t=\frac{x}{v}

where x  is the distance traveled with velocity v

t=\frac{100}{10}\\t=10 sec

The insect is moving through this time period with a constant velocity of 15 m/s

The distance traveled by grasshopper  is

distance=V_{gh} \times t\\distance=15 \times 10\\distance=150 m

An athlete prepares to throw a 2.0-kilogram discus. His arm is 0.75 meters long. He spins around several times with the discus a
wlad13 [49]
Centripetal Force (Fcp) = ?

His arm length = Radius (R) = 0.75 m

Discus velocity = Linear Velocity (V) = 5 m/s

Discus mass (m) = 2 kg

Centripetal Acceleration (Acp) = V^2/R or W^2 x R
In this case i will use the V^2/R formula, because it uses the discus velocity (V).

fcp = m \times acp \\ fcp = m \times {v}^{2} \div r \\ fcp = 2 \times {5}^{2} \div 0.75 \\ fcp = 2 \times 25 \div 0.75 \\ fcp = 50 \div 0.75
fcp = 66.666... = 66 \: newtons

Answer: Last option, 66 N.

Football player A has a mass of 210 pounds and is running at a rate of 5.0 mi/hr. He collides with player B. Player B has a mass
Naddika [18.5K]

The equation for momentum is p = mv where p is the omentum, m is the mass and v is the velocity. Calculating the momentum for each football player, player A will have a momentum of 1050 lb-mi/h and player B will have a momentum of 570 lb-mi/h. Therefore, momentum of player A is greater than that of player B.
