The momentum of a moving object is given by:
p=mv
where
m is the mass
v the velocity of the object

Before the car accident, the driver (of mass m=125 kg) was moving at speed v=31 m/s, so his initial momentum was
p_i = mv=(125 kg)(31 m/s)=3875 kg m/s \sim 3900 kgm/s

However, after the collision the driver is brought to rest: it means his final velocity is zero, and so also his final momentum is zero: p_f=0. Therefore, the change in momentum of the driver is equal to his initial momentum:
\Delta p = 3900 kg m/s
and the correct answer is D.

89. An electron is moving in a straight line with a velocity of 4.0×105 m/s. It enters a region 5.0 cm long where it undergoes a
ddd [48]

Explanation:

Given that,

Initial speed of the electron, u=4\times 10^5\ m/s

Distance, s = 5 cm = 0.05 cm

Acceleration of the electron, a=6\times 10^{12}\ m/s^2

(a) Let v is the electron's velocity when it emerges from this region. It can be calculated as :

v^2=u^2+2as

v^2=(4\times 10^5)^2+2\times 6\times 10^{12}\times 0.05

v = 871779.788 m/s

or

v=8.71\times 10^5\ m/s

(b) Let t is the time for which the electron take to cross the region. It can be calculated as:

t=\dfrac{v-u}{a}

t=\dfrac{8.71\times 10^5-4\times 10^5}{6\times 10^{12}}

t=7.85\times 10^{-8}\ s

Hence, this is the required solution.

A 5-kg concrete block is lowered with a downward acceleration of 2.8 m/s2 by means of a rope. The force of the block on the Eart
maksim [4K]

When the body touches the ground two types of Forces will be generated. The Force product of the weight and the Normal Force. This is basically explained in Newton's third law in which we have that for every action there must also be a reaction. If the Force of the weight is pointing towards the earth, the reaction Force of the block will be opposite, that is, upwards and will be equivalent to its weight:

F = mg

Where,

m = mass

g = Gravitational acceleration

F = 5*9.8

F = 49N

Therefore the correct answer is E.

gizmo_the_mogwai [7]

Answer: a) The Answer to the question is option a) None of it.

Explanation:

The reason is because according to the law of conservation of energy Energy can neither be created nor destroyed but can be transformed from one form to the other. Therefore none of the kinetic energy was dissipated, rather it was transformed to another form of energy.
