Answer:

The answers are explained below

Explanation:

a)

Given: concentration of salt/base = 0.031

concentration of acid = 0.050

we have

PH = PK a + log[salt]/[acid] = 1.8 + log(0.031/0.050) = 1.59

b)

we have HSO₃⁻ + OH⁻ ------> SO₃²⁻ + H₂O

Moles i............0.05...................0.01.................0.031.....................0

Moles r...........-0.01.................-0.01................0.01........................0.01

moles f...........0.04....................0....................0.041.....................0.01

c)

we will use the first equation but substituting concentration of base as 0.031 + 10ml = 0.031 + 0.010 = 0.041

Hence, we have

PH = PK a + log[salt]/[acid] = 1.8 + log(0.041/0.050) = 1.71

d)

pOH = -log (0.01/0.510) = 1.71

pH = 14 - 1.71 = 12.29

e)

Because the buffer solution (NaHSO3-Na2SO3) can regulate pH changes. when a buffer is added to water, the first change that occurs is that the water pH becomes constant. Thus, acids or bases (alkali = bases) Additional may not have any effect on the water, as this always will stabilize immediately.

A voltaic cell is constructed with two silver-silver chloride electrodes, where the half-reaction is AgCl (s) + e− → Ag (s) + Cl
ANTONII [103]

Answer : The cell emf for this cell is 0.118 V

Solution :

The half-cell reaction is:

AgCl(s)+e^\rightarrow Ag(s)+Cl^-(aq)

In this case, the cathode and anode both are same. So, E^o_{cell} is equal to zero.

Now we have to calculate the cell emf.

Using Nernest equation :

E_{cell}=E^o_{cell}-\frac{0.0592}{n}\log \frac{[Cl^{-}{diluted}]}{[Cl^{-}{concentrated}]}

where,

n = number of electrons in oxidation-reduction reaction = 1

E_{cell} = ?

[Cl^{-}{diluted}] = 0.0222 M

[Cl^{-}{concentrated}] = 2.22 M

Now put all the given values in the above equation, we get:

E_{cell}=0-\frac{0.0592}{1}\log \frac{0.0222M}{2.22M}

E_{cell}=0.118V

Therefore, the cell emf for this cell is 0.118 V

Answer: the heat-sensitive glassware that were given are : Volumetric and Graduated cylinder.

Explanation:glass material that reacts to ambient temperatures radiated off of other surfaces like hands or water is known as heat sensitive glassware. They are not meant to be heated and could shatter if exposed to a heat source. Examples from the video includes Volumetric and Graduated cylinder. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Why does 4.03/0.0000035 = 1.2 x 106, instead of a different number of significant figures?
jasenka [17]

Explanations:- As per the significant figures rule, In multiplication and division, we go with least number of sig figs.

4.03 has three sig figs where as 0.0000035 has two sig figs only, The zeros in this number are not sig figs as they are just holding the place values. As the least number of sig figs here is two, the answer needs to be reported with two sig figs only.

\frac{4.03}{0.0000035}=1.2*10^6
