A space vehicle deploys its re–entry parachute when it's traveling at a vertical velocity of –150 meters/second (negative becaus
dexar [7]

Answer:

a=5m/s^2

Explanation:

Aceleration is a change on the velocity of the object in a given time.

For this case: the initial velocity is

v_{1}=150m/s

and the final velocity is :

v_{2}=0 m/s

so, the change in velocity is:

\Delta v =v_{2}-v_{1}=0m/s - (-150m/s) =  150 m/s

and the change in time , according to the problem:

\Delta t=30s

So, the aceleration is:

a=\frac{\Delta v}{\Delta t} = \frac{150m/s}{30s} = 5m/s^2

A small light cylinder and a large heavy cylinder are released at the same time and roll down a ramp without slipping. Which one
forsale [732]

Answer:

C. Both reach the bottom at the same time.

Explanation:

For a rolling object down an inclined plane , the acceleration is given below

a = g sinθ / (1 + k² / r² )

θ is angle of inclination , k is radius of gyration , r is radius of the cylinder

For cylindrical object

k² / r² = 1/2

acceleration =  g sinθ  /( 1 + 1/2 )

= 2 g sinθ / 3

Since it does not depend upon either mass or radius , acceleration of both the cylinder will be equal . Hence they will reach the bottom simultaneously.

A ski lift is used to transport people from the base of a hill to the top. If the lift leaves the base at a velocity of 15.5 m/s
Neko [114]
This can be calculated with the law of conservation of energy. The sky lift is starting with the speed v= 15.5 m/s and all of it's kinetic energy Ek is transformed to potential energy Ep so the energies have to be equal: Ep=Ek.
Since Ek=(1/2)*m*v² where m is mass and v is the speed, Ep=m*g*h, where m is mass, g= 9.81 m/s² and h is height. Now:

Ek=Ep

(1/2)*m*v²=m*g*h, masses cancel out,

(1/2)*v²=g*h, divide by g to get the height,

(1/2*g)*v²=h and now plug in the numbers:

h=12.245 m. Height of the hill rounded to the nearest tenth is h=12.25 m
