1. What volume of toluene do you need to add to 1 mL of ethyl acetate to make an equi-molar mixture? The density of ethyl acetat

e (C4H8O2) is 0.898 g/mL and the density of toluene (C7H8) is 0.867 g/mL.

Answer:

1.06 mL of toluene will be needed.

Explanation:

Equi-molar mixture means equal moles of all the components.

as given the volume of ethyl acetate = 1mL

Density of ethyl acetate = 0.898 g/mL

The relation between density, mass and volume is :

density=\frac{mass}{volume}

mass=volumeXdensity

mass of ethyl acetate present = 1mL X 0.898g/mL = 0.598 grams

the moles are related to mass as:

moles=\frac{mass}{molarmass}

For ethyl acetate molar mass = 4X12+8X1+2X16= 88g/mol

moles of ethyl acetate will be:

moles=\frac{0.898}{88}= 0.01mol

So we need 0.01 moles of toluene also

For 0.01 moles the mass of toluene required = 0.01 X molar mass of toluene

mass required = 0.01 X 92=0.92grams

for 0.92 grams of toluene volume required will be:

volume=\frac{mass}{density}=\frac{0.92}{0.867}= 1.06mL

How many moles of AgNO3 must react to form 0.854 mol Ag?
kipiarov [429]
The answer:
<span>The equation of its dissolution in water is: AgNO3 → Ag + (aq)  +  NO3- (aq)

and     </span>AgNO3 →   Ag + (aq)  +  NO3- (aq)
          1 mol          1mol                1mol
             ?  --------   0.854mo
so for finding the value, it is sufficients to complute 1 x 0.854 mol =0.854 mol
so,  0.854 mol is required for the reaction to form 0.854 mol of Ag

Which of the samples described below contains the FEWEST atoms? No calculation is needed to answer this question.
Monica [59]

Hello!

To do this, use the molar mass. This is how much a mole of an atom weighs. A mole is 6.02214076×10²³ atoms.

Molar masses of:

Se: 78.96 g/mol

Cu: 63.546 g/mol

Ba: 137.327 g/mol

Now, the element with the highest molar mass will have the fewest atoms. This is because the element weighs more, so therefore for the same amount of mass, there will be less of the element needed to reach that mass.

Therefore, 10g of Ba would have the fewest number of atoms.

Hope this helps!

A chemist heats 100.0 g of FeSO4 x 7H2O in a crucible to drive off the water. If all the water is driven off, what is the mass o
Ierofanga [76]
FeSO₄*7H₂O(s) = FeSO₄(s) + 7H₂O(g)

M(FeSO₄*7H₂O)=278.0 g/mol
M(FeSO₄)=151.9 g/mol

m(FeSO₄*7H₂O)/M(FeSO₄*7H₂O)=m(FeSO₄)/M(FeSO₄)

m(FeSO₄)=M(FeSO₄)m(FeSO₄*7H₂O)/M(FeSO₄*7H₂O)

m(FeSO₄)=151.9*100.0/278.0=54.6 g

m(FeSO₄)=54.6 g
